Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I wanted to switch my career to Finance and learn more about it. Hence, I did my specializations in Finance. The faculty and student ratio is favorable, we used to interact personally with our faculties a lot. The faculties at IIM Lucknow are highly qualified and experienced. Some of them also bring relevant industry experience which helps to get real practical knowledge. It's a trimester format, so, 6 term exams happen in 2 years. It's academically quite a rigorous course.
Internships Opportunities
There are a lot of companies that come for summer internships. The process happens in September and the internships are scheduled after the completion of the first year, mostly in the first or second week of April. The companies that come for the internships are - Mckinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Microsoft, Deloitte, Accenture, TAS, HUL, P&G, Uber, Amazon, Atlassian, Aditya Birla, Reliance, Adani Group, Citi Group, JP Morgan, etc. The projects are of different domains like marketing, sales, product management, consulting, and operations.
Placement Experience
From the 4th trimester, students become eligible for campus placements, there are more than 200 top companies that visit IIM Lucknow for placements. The entire batch gets placed with many students having multiple placement offers. The average package is around 26 lacs per annum. 100% of students get placed. I started as a Product Manager at Microsoft.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The cost to study is around 20 lakhs which is lesser than the other top colleges in India, even though it ranks better and has more facilities than those colleges. The college supports students from poor financial backgrounds based on annual household income. I got a good-paying MNC job at the campus which was as a Product Manager at Microsoft.
Campus Life
Life at IIML is good and enriching. The annual cultural festival of IIML is called Manfest-Varchasva, which usually happens in January. It is one of the biggest and grand fests in India. The library provides access to an extensive collection of books, journals, research papers, and digital resources. The classrooms are equipped with projectors, audio systems, and internet connectivity which enhances the overall learning experience. There are a lot of sports facilities in IIM Lucknow - Cricket ground, Football ground, Basketball and tennis court, Table tennis, Swimming Pool, Snooker, Squash, Badminton court, etc. I was a part of two clubs at IIM Lucknow - Abhivyakti, Dramatics Club, and Forty-Two, literary and debating club. There are more than 35 Clubs, Committees, and Academic Interest groups.
Hostel Facilities
I took hostel facility, it is mandatory to be on campus and take hostel facilities. I don't have any friends in mind who have not availed the hostel facilities. The rooms are single occupancy with a cot, mattress, study table, fan, chair, almirah, and racks. The rooms are well lit, with windows and net on windows to keep away insects. The meal quality is too good, I enjoyed the food thoroughly the mess during my 22-year course period. There is a provision for night mess as well which runs till 3 AM to help students who are night owls.
Admission
I took CAT (Common Aptitude Test) for getting admission into IIM Lucknow. The application form can be found on CAT's official website. Other platforms like CollegeDunia also provide information on entrance examination dates. The application form is around 2.5K. The examination happens in November last Sunday/Saturday.
Interview Experience
Yes, I faced Written Ability Test and admission interviews. In WAT & Interviews, the topics were: Macro and Micro Economics, the 2008 Financial crisis, the importance of Digital detox in current lives, and books that you are currently reading. The process started when you get a call from the institute on your email. You get a slot for WAT and PI (Personal Interview). First, the WAT is conducted that day and then the interview is taken. Both the scores are combined to get a final score which is considered to get admission. The interview goes anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, mine was 45 minutes long.
