Remarks

Just come here for mechatronics like the way I came up here! For all the other courses please look up to another college, but definitely not this. If you are expecting this college to have the amazing infrastructure and around 3-4 grounds then probably this isn't the right place for you.

Entrance Preview

I joined this college as I had opted for it through KCET. And the reason why I put up this college in my list is just because it has Mechatronics and mechatronics is something that I badly wanted to do. And worst part: when I googled, just 3 colleges including Oxford provided mechatronics. The other two are acharya and manipal institute. But since I did not want hostel and also did not want much of travelling, I had Oxford as my only option. So yeah, I've ended up here. There hasn't been any interview sort of a process. You get a seat during the counseling and you just pay the fee and end up here. That's all.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Well. Talking about the course, I would say it is the very next thing coming up as Mechatronics deals with robotics and automation and it's understandable that in a few years everything's going to be automated. So the course is one of the best things you can ever choose if you are planning to do Engineering. Well at Oxford, you cannot expect any initiatives to be taken up by the management or your department. Of course the department is very much supportive to the ideas brought up by students but as long as it doesn't come from the students, nothing really happens at Oxford. So if you are at Oxford you cannot expect anything at all. It's all that you plan, and all that you execute. Well yeah like I said, the Mechatronics department is supportive to quite some extent so yeah you can rely on them for some things.

Internships Opportunities

No internship opportunities at all. It's well and good if you bag an internship from your side and by your efforts. But college doesn't take up much interest in this. Again, this was shared by my seniors.

Placement Experience

2

To be very honest, you barely get decent placements here as that is what I have got to know from my seniors. And out of the very few placements that happen, most of it s for CS or IS. So placement wise, it has to improve a lot more.

College Events

2.5

Well. Don't expect to have an amazing social life at Oxford. You do have a fest but that is not what you'd actually be looking for. There isn't that great crowd that turns up for a fest by Oxford!

Fee Structure And Facilities

Well now, the fee structure depends on how you have acquired the seat. If you have got in through KCET it's around 1 lakh per annum. If you have enrolled through comedk then it may cost you anything around 2.5 lakh excluding the hostel charges, if you get in via management it is around 1lakh 60k (that is what I hear. Not sure though).

Fees and Financial Aid

Nope. Haven't heard of any such thing that has happened at Oxford!

Campus Life

2

Well. I'd rate a 4/10 for this. Firstly cause they don't have a ground. So since they don't have one, you have to go all the way to some other ground and practice. Now that's a problem for those who avail the college bus facility as the practice is usually after college hours. Secondly, even if there are matches being conducted at the college level, you are informed just a day before or at times you aren't even informed!

Hostel Facilities

3

Well I haven't taken up the hostel facility, but I do have friends who have availed this facility. The hostel rooms are okay. They can be better. And the food at the mess too needs to be improved. That's all I can say!

Exam Structure

Well here you have two exams to be written in one day. That may be tedious for many as they may not have experienced the same in their high school, but probably you'd just get used to it. And coming to labs, you've usually got lab classes for 3 hours once a week. The apparatus or instruments at the labs are old and need to be changed!

Faculty

4.5

Well. To be precise, the Mechatronics faculty is amazing. They are updated with the latest things going on. They are pretty much supportive to all the ideas brought up by the students and they motivate you to bring out more and more ideas. Also, they are very much experienced. Most teachers do give notes. So you do not have to worry about it. But yeah. Since it's vtu, you can't expect them to complete the portions. They'll either leave it to you guys or just ask you to do seminars on it.

Placement Experience:

At IIT Dharwad, students become eligible for campus placements right after their 7th semester(i.e. after the start of 4th year) and during their 3rd year, students also have opportunities to sit for internships which can later convert to PPOs. The companies that have visited our campus are Adobe, Amazon, Texas, TCS, wipro etc. The highest CTC offered was 55LPA and average package for CSE is 18-20LPA, and for the core branches is around 10-15LPA. In CSE more than 93% of the students got placed and many of other students opted for higher studies . In the core branches the placement percentage was around 85-88%. After My degree, I plan to go for a Software Engineer role.
