Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose the course because of the syllabus which is very inclusive of texts from different parts of society with a variety of characters. It was also deeply theoretical. The classes are taken in your study Centre of choice and there can be from 20-40 students while there is only one teacher or course coordinator. The faculty is qualified. They hold masters and doctorates in their own specific fields and have a great amount of knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

4

I did internships on my own with the help of Internshala. You get more internship opportunities when you're studying from an open University because you have more time on your hands and that's exactly what is required. There weren't any opportunities provided by the college for internships in BA hons English. But other practical subject students are provided with internships.

Placement Experience

3.5

In third year one can go for campus placements. They just have to have good marks and confidence. Several companies visit and you get offers ranging from 10k a month to 30k, sometimes even more. Around 30% of students get placed in workplaces of their choice.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course BA hons English costs a total of 9600 rupees for a period of three years. There are additional amounts taken for applying for exams(200rupees per subject). You can work at your own time. However the college doesn't offer anything as such.

Campus Life

3

There are no fests but IGNOU conducts online discussions and presentations for the betterment of the students. They also organize writing competitions, etc., to boost the morale of students. You'll have access to the study center library which will include all kinds of books and journals depending on the study Centre.

Admission

Eligibility - Anyone who has finished till the 12th grade of schooling can apply. You can be between 18-60 years of age. Application details- there are two sessions, July session and December session. The applications start in March-April for July session and around August- September for December session. The application can be found on the main page of IGNOU. For applying you have to pay the first year fees and 200 rupees for registration. The first year fees is around 3.8 to 4k.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is something that can have improvements. For example I am studying C++ in my computer minor class which is becoming less and less relavent as compared to a lamguage like python. Alot of job prospects require students to know a language like R so I feel things like that should be taught so that the course cam make a student more real world ready.

My course is on a difficult side . There are subjects like statistics and maths which are too practical and hard . But this opens my mind towards practical approaches. Moreover the demand for this course is much more then its related courses like bcom and bba.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course requires a lot of analytical and logical thinking. The scope is quite wide in my course without having any professional degree too like research, analytics, finance manager etc. This course gives opportunity to gain applied skills and as we are dealing with quantitaive aspects our statistics also gets better with time. Few improvements which i would like suggest are that their should more practical and real life knowledge, currently it is very theoritically heavy. Teaching online softwares must be compulsoury so that we remain updated with technology.

Placements of my college are pretty good. The placement cell of my college is pretty active and facilitataes the placement process. Companies like Deloitte, EY and PWC often come to our college for placements with the average package being Rs. 8,00,000. After getting this degree, i will pursure another degree in MBA or I might also take a part in the placement process and pursue an MBA later. Students in semester 6 and further can take part in the placement process but there are internship fairs and summer internship programmes for students who are not eligible for placements

I have a keen interest in pursuing in Economics field as a career and hence my degree perfectly aligns with my career goals The curriculum is not very effective when we talk aboht the real world exposure however it is very good for further academic pursuits The curriculum could be a bit more practical based where we get exposure to the real industry as well. The exams are held twice in an year. The difficulty level is moderate
