Well spent 5 years

The college management has got some serious issues. The SRE particularly I believe it’s primary motive is to make student’s life miserable. I don’t say everyone is the same but majority of people don’t have any manners how to speak to students.

I do not remember the scores of my other exams but remember nothing great. Was getting admission in Manipal, Karnatka. In UPES entrance test my rank was 561 and the admissions were done based upon the rank. I chose power beacause power is something which is ever growing need of the world.

The course is good. In fact the branches being introduced by UPES as in very high demand in the industry. The curriculum being taught here makes anyone ready for the market. People as soon as they pass can be placed into the market with minir polishing.

College provides internship but does not guarantee one. There is no stipend generally. During my time most of the internships were in government entities like NRLDC, CERC, MERC, DERC, UJJVNL and many more. The tenure of the internship typically is 8 weeks.

The placements are ok. An average student will get a job easily. Generally the companies do not offer high packages but the number of jobs are sufficient. Getting program specific job is difficult as the programs are very specific. During my recruitment few companies were Decathalon, Beroe Research, Thermax, Infosys, Adani, Manikaran Power Ltd, etc. The average package was around 3 lpa.

Uurja- Urja is the annual cultural fest of the college. Lot of events organised by students. Good fun time. It is a 2-3 day event generally organised on weekends. The budget is quite low so no high profile bands. Ignite- Annual tech fest of the college where the events are more tech related.

The fee is expensive for sure. My fee was Rs. 1.05 lakhs per semester for Integrated BTECH plus MBA 5 years course. So roughly 10 lakhs for 10 sems. Then the hostel fee is skyrocketing due to string nexus of hostel owners. I used to pay around 70000 per year for a triple sharing AC room private hostel. And the fee is increasing every year.

I don’t remember exactly but there is some scholaship for local residents of Uttarakhand and something for people who have scored more than 90% in their boards examination. In campus scholarship is given to toppers of the particular year. Loans are easily available from almost all the banks.

Since the university has got multiple branches the overall gender ratio is balanced. Like in BBA and Law courses there is a good gender ratio but in B.Tech there are quite less femsle students. There are events happening something or the other through out the year and if students are able to convince the deans ir HODs college funds events outside capus aswell.

The college itself is not having sufficient rooms to accommodate all the students to majority of the students stay off campus. The private hostels are good but expensive. The rooms are available on single, double and triple sharing basis. The annual fee varied from 60000 to 100000 during my stay. The food and ither facilities are good.

Yes the alumni is pretty helpful and the network is growing even stronger. Since UPES is not a very old institution there was not a culture of its own which binds the alumni but slowly as the college is getting stable and a culture is growing the alumni network is also growing stronger. Now we can see our people placed in all the fields all the organizations.

There are total 4 exams in an year. Teo mid sems and 2 end sems. Mid sem has got value of 20 marks and end sem is 50 marks rest 30 marks is internals. So to get these internals people have to submit assignments on time and buttering the prof. Labs are as per the curriculum. So it was balanced neither very chilled nor very hectic.

There was an entrance test called UPESEAT condcucted by UPES. I got 561 rank. Based upon the ranking candidated were called for counseling. Rank wise cadidates are given preferential to choose their preferred branches. Petroleum Automotive Design and Power were the braches in most demand during my admission.

Faculties are good and cooperative. Generally people are PHD or Post Grads. The HODs of the departments are well qualified. And being a deemed college it is pretty much faculty dominated. In the initial phases there was a lot of itration. Don’t know what’s the situation now.
