Remarks

Although it has diminished its status in past few years, it still has many chances to improve. And it's still one of the finest.

Entrance Preview

JEE Mains, score 148 I applied via DTE Maharashtra and got VJTI. I selected this college as it is one of the oldest technical institutes, and had a good name.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

VJTI usually works for 5 days a week with weekends off. And each day the college is tentatively scheduled from 9 to 5. Being an autonomous institute it has the liability to focus on certain courses which it feels apt. Apart from that there are other jon credit courses that help the students from placement point of view like presentation and communication skills etc. Second year onwards there's lab for almost every subject which gives good practical knowledge about subjects.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college does provide internship opportunities for third-year students and a few second-year students as well. However, the companies coming to college has more tendency to pick up any CS/IT student than of any other branch. The max stipend to my knowledge is about 60k with an average of 35k.

Placement Experience

2

Placement and job opportunities are fairly well in VJTI. Even a 6 pointer gets a guaranteed job. however, the package offered isn't very good for those. Last year Rakuten took an electronics student for 43Lpa, for a programming job. Then Siemens, Google, Airtel offer about 10-12lpa. Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS, L&T, Godrej usually go for mass recruitment with packages 5-6 lPA.

College Events

4

Technical fests: Technovanza: Competitions conducted Robowars, Robo sumo, Vjti robotics challenge, smart city, IGBS etc Cultural fests: Pratibimb, Rangawardhan. Pratibimb is an all rounded event having dances, dramas, activities, ramp shows, Mumbai's got talent, singing etc.. While rangawardhan mostly focuses on Marathi events. There's an entrepreneurship cell, which conducts startup Netcon, and SVC where budding startups get real investors to pitch in. And there are other competitions like the Consultant, Campuspreneurs etc

Fee Structure And Facilities

Visit the website below for the details. http://www.vjti.ac.in But it's very feasible compared to other institutions that I know of. For general it's around 80k For OBC it's around 50k While for SC/ST it's around 28k. Plus, many scholarships programs are also available, there''s freeship as well. The scholarship department is very helpful.

Fees and Financial Aid

No idea. I haven't applied to scholarships yet. But the scholarship department of college is very helpful and can be recommended.

Campus Life

2

The campus life plays a very minute role because the infrastructure of the college is very poor, so it needs to be managed smartly. In electronics, we have 12 girls in the class of 70. There's no gender biasing in the college as such. Everyone is treated equally. Students who are inclined to a certain subject can do their projects in the Coe lab ie the center of excellence lab. With proper guidance and equipment provision.

Hostel Facilities

2

VJTI scores very low on infrastructure, the hostels are very old and lack proper flooring and sanitary facilities. Rooms are very limited and direct second- year students don't get the hostels. Hostels are allotted using the cpi of students, failed students have to leave the hostel until they clear the subject. Three people share a room. Girl's mess is terrible. But I guess, that's how it is everywhere with the mess.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni are very helpful and they constantly provide the college with good facilities and guidance. The alumni association is very actively functioning. There's an annual meeting program that invites all the alumni students to college.

Exam Structure

Vjti has two in semester tests (ISTs) and one end semester exams (ESE) Ists are taken two per day that means 6 subjects in 3 days and eses are taken every alternate day that means 6 subjects in 12 days. So most of the times ists and use passes way too rapidly and the atmosphere of college in those days is nerdiest than any other time in the semester. Almost every subject except maths has a lab so there's mostly labs conducted on each day of the week on an average.

Admission

I filled preference form given on DTE Maharashtra's official website. My jee score and HSC percentage were considered in 60-40 ratio, and together I got a percentile which was then matched with cutoff criteria of different colleges in Maharashtra. The top state level colleges were Coep, VJTI, Ramdeo Baba college of engineering, Yashwant Rao Chavhan college of engineering etc.

Faculty

3

Accessing faculties regarding any doubts are very simple. The teachers are friendly enough to share their contact details or make out some time to solve our difficulties. However, not all teachers are very good at the subjects they teachs or maybe aren't good at delivering the matter. Yet, the senior faculties are way too good in what they do, they not only teach but makes us create our own point of view. And most of the time it is so inspiring and almost the only driving force to finish the entire semester. I have had 4 such teachers in past two years.
