Remarks

Good: Faculty were friendly Bad: Placement should be better and the extracurricular activities should be promoted.

Entrance Preview

I got admission in this college through CUSAT exam after getting 156 AIR. It was an awesome time with nice faculty and unforgettable friends and memories. I just love South India, It was my dream to study in the south, that is one of the reasons I opted for this college. As I have taken a review from my seniors about this college and they reviewed it nice So I went for it. It was unforgettable 3 years of life.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The two types of courses were offered at that time in this college one is MCA and another M.Tech. MCA students get admission through CUSAT entrance examination and through a proper counselling. All the subject select was of latest technology trending in the industry. As MCA candidate I was dealing with software development.

Internships Opportunities

No, I don't have any knowledge regarding it but NIC office is there in the campus they used to provide the internship for us, but without any stipend,

Placement Experience

3.5

Almost 70 percent students were placed. as Only 60canddiates batches used to run 30 for MCA and 30 for M.Tech so more over 10-12 company used to visit, some students used takeoff campus placement at Technopark, Trivandrum. The companies used to visit with packages are: CDAC NEST UST global etc.

College Events

3

ONAM which is the most auspicious festival of KERALA used to be celebrated grandly, as the whole college with all the department and every single person used to celebrate this festival. The festival used to celebrate here are: Pongal, Karthik, Onam, Diwali, Holi all festival we used to celebrate grandly with faculties, friends, seniors, and Juniors.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible as two type of quota was there: Free seat quota and management quota, In Main campus and 2nd campus fees free quota fees was like negligible but in our college, free quota fees were 25000 approx for one semester. and there was no any hostel facility but we used to stay in flat.

Fees and Financial Aid

No there was no any scholarship offered by our college neither the loan facility. they only provide the letter to the candidate to avail the loan from the bank, which makes the process easier. As I haven't taken any education loan so don't have many ideas about it.

Campus Life

4

Since its Kerala where girl's ratio is more than that of boys, So in each class and department Girls count used to be almost equal to the count of boys. In our class also girls are of the same number as that of boys, as the number of female faculties more than that of male faculty.

Hostel Facilities

3

there was no any hostel facility but we used to stay in flat. Flat used to be searched by the seniors as every the student used to be new at this place from north India. So they need initial help for this so it was very helpful, As we also used to search for our junior also. The Food we used to prepare by us.

Alumni/Alumna

It was an awesome time with nice faculty and unforgettable friends and memories.

Exam Structure

Exams and labs were too frequent.but sometimes we used to get the time for chilled out. ad unit test used to happen on the regular interval of a period and on every 6-month semester exam used to happen along with the practical. there is 2-3 unit test used to happen in 6 months and every 6-month external exam used to happen.

Admission

I got admission in this college through CUSAT exam after getting 156 AIR for MCA. After that, I went for counseling in Cochin main campus and I was getting 2nd campus at Allepey, but I opted for the 3rd campus as it is in Capital of Kerala. The exam was conducted in June-2008 and within 10 days result get declared and date of counselling also get announced.Entrance paper consists of Reasoning and maths.

Faculty

4

Some faculty was regular for regular courses, and sometime guest faculty used to be called for the additional subject taken by the college as per the latest trending technology. Faculty used to teach us through slides prepared by them. and moreover along with building the concept they used to focus on practical too.

Placement Experience:

For Integrated MCA, students become eligible for placements since the 9th semester. For Btech, its 7th semester. Some of the companies that visited our college are SOTI, UST, Leopard Technologies, Safran Digit. There are many other companies that we can apply to but those drives are not conducted at our college like experion technologies and G10X technologies. Our college is the only college in Kerala from where students are hired by Safran Digit. I have gotten placement in G10X technoologies private limited.

Nirmala College, Master of Computer Applications [M.C.A]
Reviewed on Jul 9, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choosed MCA at Nirmala College due to several reasons: • It is a course which is open to anyone who has passed any bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% and above. The only prerequisite is that one need to attend the annual LBS MCA entrance examination to secure admission to this course. • The syllabus of MCA in this college is affiliated with that of MG University, Kottayam. It is a vast syllabus covering various applications of computer science including programming in various languages such as C, Java, PHP, Python, data structures, algorithms, statistics, data mining, machine learning, software engineering, networking, etc. • The course is theoretically good but practically it doesn't really equip all students with enough knowledge and understanding to be placed in a good IT company. Some portions could be excluded from various theory subjects such as Networking with TCp/Ip and Algorithms Analysis.
