Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I always aspired to be a Computer Science engineer and I finally got to be one when I chose my program at SVCE. This course is ranked 1 at the college because it has the highest number of seats, the best peer group and the best faculties with the best placements. On average the faculty: student ratio is about 1:10. All of the faculty are qualified according to the VTU rules, i.e., they have a minimum qualification of M.E/M.Tech. The teaching method in the initial year is quite similar to the one you had in 12th but from the 2nd year onwards you'll join your department and the teaching methods really start to change. There will be live demos, experiments and practicals that will help you in your holistic development. But you should not be totally dependent on the teachers and faculty and should also try to learn stuff by yourself using the many online resources available. There will be three internals for each subject with assignments and finally a Semester end external exam.

Placement Experience

4

The major placement cycle begins in your third year where all of the students are encouraged to enrol in various placement training courses. Then during the 7th sem, the first round of placements begin and in my class, most of them got placed in their 7th sem itself. A lot of companies visit the campus including TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Nokia, NTT Data, Sonata Software, 6D Tech, EY, Gyansys, Mphasis, Kaar Tech, Legato, Software AG, Sasken, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Jaro, Hexaware and Accenture to name a few. Overall 50+ companies visited and 170+ offers were made during the first cycle. The average was around 3.5 lpa and the highest offer was 10 lpa. In my batch of 180 students, 100% got placed and overall 90%+ students got placed eventually. I got the placement at TCS and was also in the final stages of two other companies but I was planning to do an MBA therefore I did not accept the offers.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since I got admission through the Comed-K entrance exam, my annual fee was fixed at 156000. This fee includes everything. There are however extra charges for Transportation Bus, Library, Hostel and Mess. There are not many scholarships given by the college itself but students can apply for the government scholarship that gives up to 20000 per year. Other than that there is no specific financial assistance or any campus jobs to provide you a stipend.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is busy but also very fun with the friends you make. There are many things happening as well since new clubs and societies have been introduced on campus. There are technical and ethnic festivals like udyukta and also the biggest fest of the college is Kalaavaibhava which happens once in every two years. Also, there will be many occasions when several sandalwood/Bollywood celebrities will visit the campus. Our library has almost every reputed journal publication subscription and every other book an engineer needs. Apart from that there are magazine and newspaper subscriptions. There is a very huge online library of books for easy access as well. Almost all of the classrooms are well furnished and equipped with projectors and are often well-lit. However, there are no ACs but it stays cool even in summer since it is a green campus. There are a lot of events taking place at the college throughout the year that students can participate in. Also, there is annual sports day

Admission

The admission process is quite simple. I got admission through Comed-K entrance exam. The seat was available through Comed-K. To be eligible you need to have passed in both your 10th and 12th with minimum percentage of marks. There is not specific cutoff for the Comed-K but it totally depends on the availability of seats and the demand of the college at the time. You will have to visit the college once and ask the students there about the college for more satisfaction. To fill the application you'll have to request one from the front desk office of the college or contact them and find out if the application is available online. But I'd recommend personally going to the college and seeing if you connect with it. Other than that the admission process is straightforward and there will not be many hassles along the way.

They fake a lot of their placements....now the bangalore campus currently has 40%placements but they fake the placement rates to make it look like its 80 or 90% which is sad...i heard that if u have really bad marks and couldnt get placed(a lot of ece and eee people, cause they will purposefully try to fail u so that u can apply for the couse again) they will make u sign a document were u agree u never sat for placements.

Students at RVCE become eligible for campus placements typically from the seventh semester onwards. Several reputed companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering a wide range of job opportunities to students. Some of the prominent companies include Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM, and Accenture, among others. These companies make a significant number of job offers across various profiles, including software development, consulting, and research. The highest package offered varies from year to year and can range from ?10-20 lakhs per annum, depending on the company and the profile offered. The average package generally falls between ?4-8 lakhs per annum. The percentage of students getting placements varies, but RVCE has a consistently high placement record, with a significant majority of students securing job offers during campus placements.
