Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose BTech at JNU because I was not sure that I will do engineering in the future and if you have to do other courses then JNU will give you lots of opportunities you can study subjects like Economics, Social science, Languages, International relations, etc. The faculty-student ratio is fine in engineering as in other engineering colleges but this ratio is less than other courses ratio in JNU. Teachers are highly qualified (Ph.D. holders, Researchers, Scientists). Term exams are very short in 1st year due to covid pandemic but will be as usual from next year. If you want to just pass the exam then 5-7 days of study before the exam is enough.

Placement Experience

3

Campus placement is quite low because 1st placement occurs this year, and students become eligible for placement from 3rd year, The Highest package for students who placed was 36 LPA and the average is about 9-10, actual data will come at the end of placement percentage of students placed is low as many students change their course because there are lots of opportunities for another course, my plan is not clear because I am in 1st semester and I am still thinking about it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The academic fee structure is about 56k per semester and if your income is between 1-5 lakh per annum then the academic fee is 1/3rd and if your income is less than 1 lakh per annum or if you are SC/ST. The student then academic fee is zero, and there are plans for MCM scholarships for engineering students in JNU. The placement cell in JNU is emerging, It is new now, and several companies visit the college for placement and internship.

Campus Life

4.5

Life on the campus is beautified regularly, Campus is greenery and pollution free instead of It Delhi, Campus area is approx 1100 acres, Here several programs, meetings, and conferences at the national, and international level is an organ. There are approx 6-7 lakh books in the central library of JNU, Book collection is very vast. Here, extracurricular activities opportunities are great, Sports, Dance, Quizzes and so many clubs are active for this.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities are quite average, rooms are of old quality, regular cleaning of floors, mess are fine. The meal quality is good. 3 times meal are provided Breakfast, lunch, and Dinner. 4 out of 7 days Dinner have no veg option. the registration process for a hostel is easy, and not lengthy, If you are not allotted a hostel then you can reside in Munirka where PG is available.

Admission

I can tell you about admission to JNU in the BTech course. Admission to JNU occurs through JEE mains entrance test, and the eligibility is to clear the cutoff for JNU. The cutoff is different for 2 branches ( CSE, ECE). For the general category closing rank for CS is about 30k in 2023 and about 47k for ECE. Here reservation benefit is the same as in other NIT/ IIT colleges but one thing different is that there is no girl's reservation. The admission process is good and well organized but it is time taking.

Placement Experience:

The fifth semester students become eligible for campus placements. The College organise placement, registration and shortlisting based on academic performance and semester marks. Many well-known companies visit the campus for hiring every year, including both mass recruitment and profile based offers students get opportunities in core companies as well as IT and consulting firms, the highest package offered in recent years has been competitive, and the average package is decent for most . A good percentage of students manage to secure placement through campus drives, but it also depends on students preparation and skill level students also get internships into placement offers. If a student does not get a campus placement, there are still good options for employability students to prepare for off campus placement, government exams or higher studies like Masters. Overall the placement environment is active and give students affair chance to start their careers.
