Course Curriculum Overview
Frankly speaking, I didn't choose the course but the rank chose my course. It was the best course I could get at this rank from the top 3 IITs. I think getting into the top 3 IITs is difficult and this was the best I could get and near to the house at this rank. Faculty to student ratio is quite less because a professor doesn't dedicate enough time to the students and is quite busy in his classes or projects/ I think the qualification of faculty is quite high, like PhD from a reputed college is a must along with the publication of a minimum number of papers is required. The teaching method is also good/ Exams are conducted timely and passing them is quite easy. But getting good marks is difficult.
Internships Opportunities
BCG, Bain, LEK, Nomura, Accenture- Consulting firms Amazon, Graviton, Google, Microsoft, Optiver, Jane street, and Tower research- they provide quantitative analysis and technical roles Nvidia, Sony, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments- provided jobs in the core of electrical the projects these provide are on working on consultancy and under consultants which provide exposure to this field. On the technical side they make students work on different projects based on coding and app building which provide them with immersive experience/ For the core side, they teach students to work in factories and with models to get to know about their industry.
Placement Experience
After the sixth semester, we become eligible for campus placements. The exact number of companies visited is not disclosed but I estimate around 60-70. The number of offers made this time was around 700. The highest package to my knowledge was given by Graviton company which was around 90 lakhs and the average package is around 27 lakhs. There are various profiles like consult, technical and product management roles if needed. The percentage of students getting placed is high around seventy per cent. My plans after the degree are to get a decent job and work for some years before doing an MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees hike is a bit of an issue for a government institute and costs to study is quite high for an Indian General student. 238000 is quite high for a government institute and I would request the government to look into it. I didn't get any scholarship or financial assistance. Just the benefit I got till now is a decent internship at Nomura company which is a consultancy firm. The environment here favours the toppers and midiockers as usual are always struggling to find jobs or financial help if needed.
Campus Life
The annual fests we have are Tryst and Rendezvous which are as of now happening in the month of Match. They are quite good and are influential helping everyone to get good exposure. Each and every type of book are available in the library. Just the issue is the number that is present which is quite low. We have good amenities in the classroom including a projector, laptop connectivity, speaker, good sitting arrangement and whiteboard. The sports and extra-curricular activities are quite excellent and run by mostly student bodies. I must say the culture run by seniors here is quite awesome/ Most clubs Culture and sports are run by students like music, dance, drama, painting, entrepreneurship, and sports.
Hostel Facilities
I have a table, single bed, dressing table, two almirahs, a mirror and a chair provided in the room. Apart from that two switches, a fan and a tube light are provided. Meal quality is okayish as compared to the menu. On the menu, breakfast is quite good compared to dinner and lunch. But I feel mess is also quite expensive. The hostel is allowed to UG by the administration but it's our choice to opt or not for it. I feel affordability is an issue for a government institute. The location is Udaigiri hostel and the 2nd floor on it.
Admission
The eligibility to fill the form is to first get selected for JEE ADV. and then for general category AIR should be less than 550. Rest you should be a non-medical student with a minimum of 75% in 12th board exams with Indian nationality. The application form is found on the JOSA website and then follow the rules. Lock the seat in the counselling process and then fill out some minimum fees first and then submit the full fees after the counselling is over. Also, there are a variety of documents to be submitted to get admission and then onboard the campus on a particular date. I feel the procedure is a bit complex and can be simplified if done correctly like getting the documents submitted at the start and then sending them automatically to the college selected by JOSA itself.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITB] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical Engineering) + Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Microelectronics)
I felt the degree was quite long providing mtech which doesnt feel good if done from India. Also it was farther from my home so I was reluctant to go. Heard from seniors that the placement oppurtunities for the same degree was not that good.
