SJMSOM-complete insights of the Bschool

I had work experience in supply chain and wanted to pursue my career in the operations domain. SJMSOM is known best for its operations. For operations, they have highly experienced faculty. For other subjects as well faculty are highly qualified with master's, and Ph.D. from foreign universities. The student-to-faculty ratio is approximately 10:2, Teaching methodology varies from prof to prof but mostly all faculty follow case-based teaching, putting us into the shoes of managers and making us learn to think like a manager through different cases and examples. In one semester there are two terms, each term has one midterm and one end sem examination. Apart from this regular presentations and assignments. But still, the curriculum is not very hectic, we can manage to have spare time left after classes and assignments and it's not very difficult to pass the examinations.

Summer internship roles offered have profiles of product manager, supply chain, systems operations manager, and consulting in Financial advisory, management, Procurement consulting, etc. Major sectors of companies include FMCGs / Manufacturing, BFSI, Consulting / IT, E-commerce, etc. The highest stipend for the current year is 4.4 L while the median and average stand to be 3 L and 3.03 L respectively.

Placements Majorly for summer placements operations related companies come for recruitment like Asian Paints, Amazon, Mondelez, P&G, Marico, Adani Wilmar, Kimberly Klark, etc, JPMC comes for finance roles. Roles for final placements are an Operations manager, general manager, etc. Students are eligible for final placements in 3rd semester. 100% of Students get placed. The highest CTC is 54 LPA and the average is 28.88 LPA.

Fees structure is 363100 per semester which totals 14,52,000. Apart from this hostel and mess fees are roughly 55k per year. so the total estimated cost to study comes to around 16 lakhs. This year in 2022 only, there was a fee hike. earlier than this it was only 8-9 lakhs total tuition fees. But still, fees are less than comparative IIMs.

Campus life is the main plus point of SJMSOM, We get the leverage of the IITB ecosystem, a beautiful, serene 545 acres of campus with a lake and hills inside the campus. All IITB infrastructure, Libraries are accessible to us. We can enjoy IITB Tech fests, and Cultural fests (MOOD-Indigo).SJMSOM has its own festival Avenues, Diksha series, and Continuums -Where distinguished industry experts from different domains of industries are invited as speakers to share their learnings and experience with students. Alumni meet is conducted every year. Sports facilities are also there, SOM has its own sports club and festival, Prithvi. Students run different clubs and committees related to domains- OPERA, Finesse, Consig, Prodigy, Systematics, Matrix, etc

We stay in the hostels of IIT Bombay. Twin sharing rooms. The quality of meals and menu is pretty good. You can see variety in meals-4 times meals are provided. Registration for the hostel is also done through the official site only.

Admission for SJMSOM is taken through CAT. The cut-off for the general category is 90 percentile. We can expect to get calls from SJMSOM around the 92-99 percentile range. Results after each waitlist are released timely. The PI process is conducted on a unique and interactive, virtual GATHER platform.

There was a PI (Personal Interview )conducted over a virtual, interactive platform GATHER. I would say this PI process on Gather is best among all other MBA colleges. Initially, all call-getters are assigned a PI buddy, PI preparation kit is sent. On the Interview day, Students are divided into different panels. Each panel consists of 1 SJMSOM faculty, 1 Alum, and 1 IITB faculty(based on students' graduation stream). PI buddies guide the student to document verification and panel room on the virtual platform. Regarding preparation, the Candidate should study important topics from the graduation stream, and current affairs and should have a thorough knowledge of his/her job role, work, and internship experience
