Remarks
College management is kinda biased based on who you are. If they know you, then the work will be faster. Else they will take it with their time. Though unlike many other institutes if I compare, they are quick with their work. Rest, you'll feel like any other government office. College is absolute best with the environment it has cultivated, Indore is a good location for it to be. They do not oppress the students and allow them to grow. The only thing being the students should come out n grab every opportunity they get. If the students only wait for good things to happen to them even without trying, then even God cant help them.
Entrance Preview
I got in through MP-PET. My cousin was already studying in this college and he gave very positive reviews about all the departments and about the college life. I opted for Computer Engineering stream as per my interest. I also heard about the student activities outside of academics which got my interest. Many groups like Computer Society of India, Rotaract, Engineers Without Borders and also student's groups like Forces and Abacus keep the campus lively my round the year conducting events, which are all handled by the students.
Course Curriculum Overview
I still feel the course curriculum can get better by adding more practical lessons, so the students keep interest on what is being taught. Teaching is good, but the lack of practical knowledge can put off the interest. But the course curriculum also gives enough time for the students to prepare for other exams as they are not burdened 24x7 to focus only on college. Everyone gets equal opportunity to prepare for any Masters, gov. exams, etc. Also, lots of students parallelly go for GATE, CAT, GRE, TOEFL coaching, where they get discounts for being an IET student, as the students in IET are known to be smarter in a sense that they easily crack such exams and are now spread around the world.
Placement Experience
Placement is very very good. If you are a good student as in if you maintain your aggregate above 65% you'll have no problems in both on-campus and off-campus placements as IET really elevates your personality. Also, companies have percentage criteria to shortlist students to reduce the number of applicants, so it's better to be on the good side of it. The placement is handled by one faculty coordinator and under him the student's body named Training and Placement Cell. They work in coordination and the students are kept well aware of all the companies that are coming, the process and the package being offered. Students are also encouraged to tell about their Dream Companies so those companies can also be invited during the placements. Even the companies are satisfied with the workforce they get from IET. A lot of alumni are already placed in reputed companies, who still is in contact with the Placement cell and students and come often to campus to meet the other students. In short Alumni Network is strong.
College Events
The events are fairly big that happens, mostly, almost all, handled by the students. To big student clubs during my time were ABACUS and FORCES, and both were actively involved in bringing cultural events round the year. Followed by students chapters of Computer Society of India, IEEE, Rotaract, Engineers Without Borders. Also, occasional Blood Donation drive also takes place. Events include Waves- music fest, Phoenix - tech fest, Akshank- cultural fest, kaleidoscope - cultural fest and many more i may be forgetting the name of. There used to be workshops by students teaching photoshop skills or HTML, CSS skills, etc. or professionals taking robotics workshops etc. Best part is that as students get involved with such events, they get the necessary skill to work as a team and act as a leader, skills that are not taught in academics. They learn to get sponsorship from outside community, handle negotiations, manage an event and money. All along with the time they are giving for academics.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure was getting renewed every year during my tenure. To me, it was a little expensive as compared to other colleges but as compared to the things I learned both on and off academics, it was a very less price to pay. Fees was around 65,000/-
Fees and Financial Aid
There was scholarship/loans available and some of my friends had availed the facilities.
Campus Life
Really good. As I have already mentioned before, the real student development happens in IET DAVV is all because of the extra curricular activities. It's not mandatory but gives an overall boost in personality. Events include Waves- music fest, Phoenix - tech fest, Akshank- cultural fest, kaleidoscope - cultural fest and much more I may be forgetting the name of. They learn to get sponsorship from outside community, handle negotiations, manage an event and money all along with the time they are giving for academics.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel and mess were an absolute mess. I stopped eating in mess after 2 years and explore my way out with tiffins and going out to eat thalis. The mess contractor was an ass. I have no good points about him. The hostel was old and worn out, though, during my last two years, they built a new hostel with good rooms for both boys and girls. We were never shifted to the new hostels. The only thing the old hostel was good at was High-Speed internet and students were happy till that was working. I guess now the hostels are better and hopefully, they have improved the food
Alumni/Alumna
As the events in campus are handled by students, there is a very strong bond formed between students of different generations. even when seniors pass out they are still in contact. They in turn provide a very helpful guide in what to do in later part of life, telling us the pros and cons of everything. Thats one reason, many students start preparing for GRE, GATE, CAT,SSC, etc because there are already seniors who have experienced it and and there to guide you when you need them. Also because of the good bonding, its easier to get in touch with seniors.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is not so hectic. There is Semester exams and 3 midterm exams. Viva and labs extra. But it can be covered during college hours. Students get enough time to go to coaching for higher studies preparation and go for extra curricular activities, manage organise events and even take a break and chill out enjoy the weather in the beautiful little campus.
Admission
The admission process has changed in the course of years and now it will be different as per the rules of the new government. As for me, after online counselling,i.e., putting my preferences for the college, and getting selected. I had to go and submit the required forms in the campus along with the fees. Went and checked the facilities like hostel and mess and I was done.
Faculty
The faculty are good with what they teach, also supportive when students are in need and approachable. If students are facing problems in studies, they will give special attention if the student asks. As per my experience most of the faculty were good with their subjects, even if the student will hate the faculty for being harsh, the faculty there were strict about the course they taught.
