Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course, out of curiosity and to have a shot at CSE, since the dual degree courses offer you to have a BE degree which depends on the first year cgpa attained by the student. General student: faculty is about 70:1, might go higher than this in most cases. Professors are PhDs from institutions abroad, and the evaluations conducted are too much in number, feels like you are back to the JEE era and not much of a university learning phase until you are a part of SI/PS-II.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are of 3 kinds- PS1, PSII, and Summer Internships. Practise school(PS) is mandatory for all and alloted solely on basis of GPA or marks in a few particular courses. Summer intern is great ,happens at the end of 2nd year and end of 3rd year for dual degree students.
Placement Experience
Placements occur in the 1st and 2nd semesters for BE single-degree students. While in 5-1 and 5-2 for Msc+BE students. Placements are the only reason to be here and community to somewhat extent. Otherwise, there is no reason to skip IIT Guwahati/Roorkee for BITS PILANI CAMPUS.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is pretty high, per year fee for the upcoming batches might be somewhat nearby 5.8 lakhs/yr with an increase in fee of 15% year-on-year basis. Financial aid is given quite generously here, and 4 kinds of scholarships are offered.
Campus Life
Life at the Pilani campus is pretty much boring, nothing to do outside the campus. The fests are pretty much overhyped, OASIS in no sense is the 2nd best in India, and the library is a good place to be at. There are numerous events happening throughout the year. Clubs run by students are just a mere formality and add no actual value to anyone except 2-3 of the major ones.
Admission
Applications for BITSAT through the bits admission site, the paper used to be 450 marks in total but was changed in 2022 to a total of 390 marks. It Comprises 3 sections, PCM, MAT, and English. Also, to take admission into BITS, a minimum of 70% in the 12th board is required.
