To get eligible for this course you have to qualify jee advanced with a decent rank to which first you have to qualify jee mains. The admission form, admission fees, and date are available on jeeadv.nic.in.The reservation is there for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and girls candidates. The admission process is overall smooth.
Course Curriculum Overview
The petroleum department of IIT ISM Dhanbad is quite popular due to its placement. The average salary is nearly 20 lakh and the highest was 32 lakh and the opportunity it gives are tremendous with 100 % placement. There are nearly seven teachers teaching the 5 subjects to 80 Students. The teacher is quite talented and has completed their Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from various well-known institutes. In each semester there are two exams held as mid-semester and end-semester of weightage 32 % and 48 % respectively which can be cleared easily if you study on a regular basis.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies like Oracle, Microsoft, Google, Uber, Flipkart, and Amazon provide great opportunities for interns with a near stipend of 1 lakh per month for nearly 2 months and most importantly most of the companies offer pre-placement offers. About 60% of the students start coding in the second year in which they do competitive coding and make good projects in app development, web development, block chain, artificial intelligence, etc.
Placement Experience
The placement at IIT Dhanbad is awesome. At the end of 7 semesters students are eligible to appear for company placement.200+ companies participated from which 920+ total offers were received. 815+ offers were accepted by students. 15+ international offers were also offered. Highest offer :1 crore (off campus), 49 lakh ( on campus ) Average package: 19 lakh per annum, PPO: 137 offers in 2021-2022, 200+ offers in 2022-2023.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee in IIT Dhanbad varies on a semester basis but nearly 1.25 lakh a student pays each semester and there are 8 semesters in total. IIT Dhanbad offers you a scholarship of fee waiver which give 100 % off on tuition fee If your family income is less than 1 lakh. 33.33 % Off on tuition fees if your family income is less than 6 lakh. IIT Dhanbad also offers McM ( merit cum means) scholarship if you score a decent cgpa above 6 and give you back your fees and 6000 rupees per year if your family income is less than 5 lakh. IIT Dhanbad offers you great opportunities via intern, hackathons, events by which if you work hard you will earn a lot and cover your fees in one month.
Campus Life
Parakram is the sports fest of IIT Dhanbad. Pratibimb the inter-departmental cultural fest of IIT ISM Dhanbad. Recently Concetto was held in the month of October which was huge and several events/competition was held. Srijan is the biggest socio-cultural fest of eastern India presented by IIT ISM Dhanbad. IIT Dhanbad has Asia's second-biggest library which has several books that students may borrow for a monthly duration. Generally, all the classroom has fans, a computer, a smart board, good benches along with AC, and a TV in some classroom. We have two big grounds one for football and the other for cricket and hockey. We also have SAC where we have 4 table tennis tables and 4 badminton courts, Gym, a boxing court, a squash court, etc. There are many clubs like cyber labs, roboism, kartavya,fast forward India, etc which work for the student by students.
