All about IIT Bhubaneswar from Insiders

I got admitted through Josaa counselling after cleating JEE Advance examination 2020. I got selected on the basis of my categorical rank (SC Category). For anyone to be eligible, he/she has to clear JEE Mains and then JEE Advance and must have scored more than 65% in high school. Every year the application begins around January and it charges accordingly around 1600.

I was allotted this course on the basis of my rank through Josaa counselling. To be honest I am not fascinated by Civil Engineering but still, it's a good course to be in. The student-teacher ratio is around 18:1 and it is very large compared to other newer IITs. Faculties are highly educated and their teaching methods are okay but the course curriculum is outdated. The semester begins and ends without being noticed and the workload is high as more emphasis is laid on academics here. But exams can be passed after studying one day before the exam as in other engineering colleges.

The fees per semester here are around 115000 in addition to mess charges(i.e 14000) for general category students and for sc/st/PWD it is 15000 in addition to mess charges. The fees here are at a higher segment considering that it is a govt. institution, IIT and the majority of us are studying by availing of bank loans. So you all can see it accordingly. One can avail of Merit Cum Means Scholarship here and if you are an sc/st student then you can avail of schemes of govt. of India through NSP. I have applied for the Top Class Education scheme for SC students but my application is pending for 1 year so I can't help with it in more detail.

Campus life is fun. Though it is a second-generation IIT you can get a vibe of older IITs to some extent. We have three fests namely Alma Fiesta (Socio-Cult), Wissenaire(Tech) and E-Summit. So fests are not a problem here and besides that in every 2 week some events are organised by different societies which will keep you engaged. Every year Inter IIT Sports meet is organised so you can take part in that but the problem is still some grounds are yet to be prepared like the cricket ground.
