Remarks
The admission process was smooth. Engineering is an aspiring profession which is made available to anyone who had completed high school by covering these three subjects - physics, chemistry and mathematics. Marian Engineering College provides professional courses in five different trades. They are Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Interested students can apply through the KEAM entrance which is conducted by the Kerala State Government and also can get a management seat directly through the college. Another option for getting admission is through the NRI quota, if any of your relatives are abroad such students can avail of the seat. There will be no fee deduction for the application form. Reservation benefits can be availed through the allotment by the state government after publishing the KEAM results. Overall experience is good.
Course Curriculum Overview
The trade which I'm in is Electronics and Communication Engineering. I chose this so that I can handle both software-related works as well as hardware-related work. Our department has 20 teachers and our class has 33 students. All the faculties hold a Mtech degree and HODs hold a PHD. The teachers hold 10+ years of teaching experience on average. The classes are really effective as they won't provide room for tension. Teachers use power point presentations along with blackboard facilities in order to provide a better understanding of the topics. The curriculum we are following is much more effective to build the basics in our core which would in turn help us to understand the basics of different works in an industry of which we would be a part. The exams are scheduled semester vice. In each semester we would have 2 series of exams which individually covers half of the portions. The exams are not much difficult to pass with the right amount of studies and determination.
Internships Opportunities
UST and Infosys are providing their internships. The Kerala Nirmithi Kendra which is a government organization is providing internship activities for civil engineers. KELTRON is providing internship opportunities for electronics and communication engineering students and also for electrical and electronics engineering students.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is fair. All professional colleges will be having a normal standard that will be maintained. It's affordable pay for a 4-year professional degree. Government-recognized scholarships are available based on KEAM rank from each minority a minimum of 3 students from each department will be eligible. Students can also avail of education loans. Our college encourages campus placements. Almost all the IT and non-IT companies would make a visit in the final years.
Campus Life
Campus life is awesome with the set restrictions. We are having different clubs and other activities. Each department has its own associations in order to conduct any event in the department. We also have IEEE societies. IEEE SB(Student Branch)is very much active along with IEEE PES(Power and Energy Society). IEDC is also active on our campus. NCSSS is a club related to cyber security which is headed by the Kerala cybersecurity unit. Also, we have a student welfare committee which provides a platform for students to develop their interests. We have sports events and also college days. Tejasvi is our college fest, every year students from different colleges would take part. The library has a good collection of books written by standard authors for every subject irrespective of the departments. Every Wednesday a doctor would visit the campus and provides a campaign. NSS is also very much active. We also have our team Cavello, the club which made a go-kart and participated in the national event.
