An all-round review of IIITKota

Aspiring engineers were eligible to apply for the Indian Institute of Information technology, Kota, if they had cleared the cutoff for the college, through JOSAA or CSAB counseling. They had to clear JEE Mains to sit in for counseling. The application form for JEE Mains is available at nta.nic.in website. And the fee for each exam is about 750 for general candidates. The form opens up a month or two prior to the exam. I, personally did not avail of any reservation benefit, but there exists a notable difference for OBC candidates, SC/ST, and Physically Challenged candidates. The difference is not as much for EWS candidates. A bit of improvement I can suggest for IIIT Kota's admission and counseling is to include a quota for girl candidates. The female quota is yet to be introduced in IIIT Kota.

The main reason to opt for the Indian Institute of Information technology Kota is the curriculum of the courses. The curriculum stands out, as it includes all the latest technologies and software for the students to learn, and is updated almost every year to equip each student with a major course. The faculty: student ratio is decent, where a class consists of 70-120 students. That, I believe, is almost perfect for a teacher to look into each individual student and account for what can be better for all of them. The faculty of the college is well-qualified, and most of the teachers keep the students interested in their respective subjects. The teacher: student ratio will soon improve as the college moves to its own campus. Due to covid and lockdowns, the last year's schedule had been a bit hectic, wherein they had to complete the first 2 semesters within 8-9 months. Mid-sem examinations are kept once in 2-3 months, and 2-3 months later, end-sem exams.

The institute offers a bunch of internship opportunities right from the beginning of 3rd year. Students even opt for internships earlier, off-campus. The stipend for each company varies with the internship offered, and also varies on the excellence of the student. Students have to complete projects and tasks to sit in some internship and placement offers. The student reviews of the internship offered are quite decent.

Once students get to 4th year, they are eligible for sitting in campus placements. Though most students prefer an off-campus placement and can sit even a year earlier. The jobs offered on campus are very decent. Last year's placement accounted for a total average of the college at 14.9 LPA. The CSE department had a share of an average of 15.6 LPA, and ECE had a share of 12.9LPA. The highest package for CSE was 82LPA and for ECE was 63 LPA. The total placement percentage of the institute last year was 90.65%. Past recruiters have been amazon, Flipkart, Samsung SDS, tally, Deloitte, and many more companies.

The total tuition fee of the institute accounts for just above 2 lakhs every year. The hostel fee accounts for around 72000 per year. So the entire course along with the hostel facility can be easily availed for around 11 lakhs. The college offers almost all scholarship policies ranging from national level, right down to state level. The institute's policy is that one student can avail one scholarship policy, provided by the government, and any number of private scholarships, the student is eligible for. Recent years have seen an enormous growth in the placements of the institute, where the average package was 15.6LPA for CSE department, and 12.9 LPA for ECE department, accounting for a total average of 14.9 LPA placement. The highest package in CSE was 82LPA, off-campus, whereas for ECE it was 63LPA. All in all, great placement statistics.

As of 2022, October, Indian Institute of Information technology Kota has yet to shift to its permanent campus at Kota, Rajasthan. As of now, the college works inside of Malviya National institute of technology, Jaipur. The campus is promised to be established and running by 2023. The campus life is not as lively but still works pretty well. Technical fests are yet to be conducted in the college, as soon as the new campus gets built. The library is filled with books considering all courses. Novels and storybooks are also abundant, and it is very easy to issue books from here. Despite not having its own campus, our college still has a lot of talent in sports. IIIT Kota takes part in BOSM, inter-IIIT sports fest, and a lot more and always has had a good history in sports.

The hostels in the college are decent. Ut has shared bathroom for every 3-4 rooms, and it does not turn out to be much hectic. Garden or a ground is present in each hostel, and each hostel has an activity room or a mess. The mess food however is quite okay. The menu offers a lot of variety, but the taste is not always as good. You might have to out every week to eat outside. The registration process is easy, and you can easily check for the room quality before booking the hostel. The hostel staff helps a lot, and you can easily get your room checked for any malfunction of a bulb or a fan or a switch. For internet, some hostels have LAN cable facility, while others have WiFi, so internet is not much of a problem.
