The management body in the college is the best in business. The only significant con in this college is the time delay, that is due to negligence on the part of the university. Rest everything is good in the campus, if not the best.

In order to get admission I appeared in JKCET (2011), secured 147 out of 225. What made me opt for this college was it location. It was/is the only college is KASHMIR zone that admits students through JKCET.

Regarding the course structure; the course structure is pretty good but the focus on research is not as it should have been. The issue in this regard is the faculty at the campus. They are not as experienced as they should be in an engineering college.

There are not as such any internships provided in this college. And obviously when the thing doesn't exist, how can one write his experience about it. ;)

Except the Civil Department, where there are no placements and job opportunities, the rest of the branches especially Computer Sciences and Electronics departments are visited by companies to offer job opportunities to the students. And not to forget the packages are not that good either.

From last few years a good number of events are being celebrated in the college. The college has an open air theater for such activities. Apart from the cultural events, convocations, awareness programs in the theater, various other tournaments are held in the college ground.

Per year (that's for 2 semesters), you have to pay the annual installment of Rs. 37800. Plus one time installment of Rs. 10000 that covers departmental developmental charger. All this sums to about Rs. 1.75 lac which is very less compared to other colleges in the state and outside the state.

Not college, but there are various organisations and departments that offer scholarships to the students enrolled in SSM College of Engineering & Technology.

Life at engineering college campus is always good, no matter what. The gender ration is I think about 40:100. Freshers party and graduation party is being held. Workshops in the campus is not a norm. The tolerance level unlike other colleges is very high. There is no ragging or any kinda discrimination with regards to gender, race etc.

The hostel rooms are sharing rooms with 3 to 4 students per room. The atmosphere in the hostel is conducive for studies. The only thing average about hostel is it's mess. The mess is mess!! Well to compensate on that the hostel is provided with wifi connections. After all engineers need wifi more than they need food. :D

The alumni network I think doesn't even exist. The are hardly any visits by the alumni's. The interaction with seniors is brotherly and they are almost every time helpful.

Exam structure in the college is pretty messed up. The reason being the affiliation with University of Kashmir. The UoK is more often than not late in holding exams on time, and they almost all the time forget to declare the results. Because of this the course time is extended to a fair degree.

You have to appear in Jammu & Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET) for admission in this college. Once you appear in the test and secure the required rank, you can opt for this college in the BOPEE held counselings. The counselling is held at their Srinagar office, as well as Jammu office.

Faculty in the college is good, not that good, just good... Also it depends which branch you join in. Usually Mechanical, Computers, Electronics, Electrical departments have experienced faculties. Only Civil department lacks in this respect. The faculty is good but all of them are not that experienced always.
