Remarks

I have thoroughly learnt and enjoyed the experiences of my college life. Each day has taught me something. Be it the faculties, the subject, the canteen walle Anna, the fests, they have moulded me into the person i am today, it's a disastrous world out there and these interactions and build-ups in the college make you entirely different when you pass out. My college has nice management and extra curricular activities, all they need to focus on is having the best faculties for each subject which has yet not been possible, unfortunately. But otherwise, it is the best.

Entrance Preview

For taking admission in SIES College, Nerul, there is no prior entrance test that has to be given. One will be shortlisted on the basis of their 12th grade examination scores, in which I had scored 86%. This college is the most decent choice if you want to study management, mass media, finance, commerce,et-cetera in Navi Mumbai. And as I did not intend to kill a lot of time in travelling, being a Navi Mumbai resident, I opted for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum that is provided by the Mumbai University spanning over 3 years is blindly implemented by the college faculties. Few of the faculties, go the extra mile by literally making us do ground work, surveys, showing presentations, enacting situations, et cetera to help us understand better. By providing specialization options to students, they help us to bring out the best in us. For B.M.S, there are 3 electives- Marketing, Finance and Human Resources. For, B.M.M, specializations are Journalism and Advertising. For B.Com , students are offered elective specializations as well. The college practices a very holistic approach in teaching and guiding the students and have very experienced and helpful faculties for each elective subject.

Internships Opportunities

SIES does not directly provide internships. Though, it has a few contacts of companies, which immediately intimate our respective faculties through mail, if they're looking for interns, which our teachers forward for us to know on our Google group. For finance, BIRLA SUN LIFE insurance was one to come. For marketing, quite a few opportunities, used to keep flowing in.

Placement Experience

4.5

70% of the students mostly got placed, whilst a few went out to pursue their Masters' degree and a few had other job opportunities/ businesses to look after. Companies that visited the campus for us Bachelors are Tata consultancy services, WNS, Royal Bank of Scotland, Ernst and Young ,P & G. Their packages were within a range of 1,50,000 to 3,00.000 and a few would go till 5,00,000.

College Events

5

There are festivals going on in the college all year long. To begin with, each department has their own festival in which they conduct and hold games relating to the subjects they study, For eg BMM- holds a week long Film Festival BMS conducts management quizzes, games and corporate walks, their quizzes have gained national importance as students from IIM-A and such colleges visit to participate in this. BFM conducts events relating to financial markets, investment planning, et cetera. There is a college fest which is conducted by all the departments called SIESONS. It is one of the most beautiful college events hosted in Mumbai, well- known celebrities are happy to grace the event. SIESONS is the biggest fest of Navi Mumbai. Cultural festivals like, Traditional Day, "Saree and Tie Day" are kept for us to take a day off and embrace our cultures. Besides our management building, there are Engineering classes and MBA classes that go on, who also host beautiful events related to their fields, ranging from robotics, to coding, to computers games, to fashion shows, to investment games, each of their event is worth a watch. The entire college participates in such events as they really help in building up one's personality, either by being a managing committee member or a valuable participant. Also, the teachers are co-operative during such festival times, they provide the students with the minimum required attendance and teach a particular topic again for the student's convenience and we really appreciate this effort by them. Students from all over Mumbai & India come to participate in the fun games that SIESONS and Sharpshooters(BMS fest) has to offer.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is definitely not feasible for each student. Each semester a Demand draft of roughly rupees 18,000 needs to be submitted. But the best part about SIES is that it provides a service known as SEAT meaning SIES Education Assistance Trust. This service provides scholarship to the needy and as well as the deserving students. To avail this service, the students are required to submit an application showing their financial condition and monthly family income so that the college can help and initiate the assistance procedure as soon as possible. It just does not limit to this, the minority possessing students are also provided with discounts in fee structure. The 18,000 that the college takes from the rest of the students is justified by providing us with well maintained labs but a slow net connection, a nice library but with a few restrictions on book issuing and returning times, with a lovely gymkhana equipped with a Table tennis, a treadmill. carrom boards and a nice outdoor basketball court.

Fees and Financial Aid

As mentioned above in the fee structure column, SIES provides, SEAT facility, that is SIES education Assistance Trust, it provides a huge reduction in fee for students who have low family income, all they have to do is submit proof of the same along with an application. This really helps the minority, needy and talented students to bring out their best. Apart from this, there are no other special loans that i know of for students.

Campus Life

5

The campus life here is beautiful, as there is lack of gender bias, lack of political influence and lack of rich-poor disparity. The college environment is quite friendly. The faculties are approachable, there is a counselor hired so that we can ask them for any kind of assistance, personal or educational. There are students here from all races and religions and each is treated with equal respect and love. There are not even one percent chances of bullying and if it happens to anyone, you can talk to the faculties, they're highly supportive.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Unfortunately, SIES does not provide hostel facilities. However, there are a few students who stay from the college, have thus, rented apartments and are sharing the same by paying a rent of about 3,000-4,000 individually, depending on their exact location. Also, SIES does not provide a MESS facility, but there is a canteen for the rescue, however, let me warn you, it isn't much of a rescue after all, as the food is not very delicious, and the current food caterer isn't too generous with the quantity and they ask too much from students when it comes to paying, also, non-veg lovers, since this college is inclusive of a temple, the canteen serves only vegetarian food, There is also a cafeteria by the Engineering college, which relatively serves better food with nice Iced tea, coffee, maggi and burgers.

Alumni/Alumna

I've had pretty good, helpful and interactive seniors ahead of me. In fact, one of them and one of the interactions made me even sure what i want to do in life. It is always advisable to keep a good interaction with your seniors, as they've already faced what you are facing and can help you a great deal in facing situations better. So yes, keep interacting, communication and public relations are a huge key to success.

Exam Structure

As a 3 year course, the curriculum is divided among 6 semesters, each semester comprising of 1 term exam and 1 unit test. Also, there used to be a couple of practice class tests just to keep us alert and aware. This wasn't very hectic. But it's exams we're talking about, they definitely bring in a little stress along.

Admission

A few days after my boards results got announced, the word spread through University and educational websites, newspapers, television and people, that Mumbai University colleges have started the distribution of the admission forms.Quickly googling, the last year cut-off percentages of the various colleges I was interested to attend, I found SIES willing to admit me on those grounds. So, I with the help of GPS and people, found the college and was welcomed by helpful, interactive staff who assisted me. They informed me the required details regarding the form submission and "Putting up of merit list" dates. I visited the beautiful campus of the college, as instructed, saw the first, second and the third merit list but I wasn't even in one of them. So, my dad took me to a College in Mumbai(Sydenham) to take the admission and be done with it, but he was indeed sad, because he didn't want me to travel this far each day. But fate always has different plans for each of us, right after we came back from Mumbai, I got a call from SIES saying, the last seat for BMS is up for grabs and that I should confirm my admission if I want it. In a heartbeat, I blurted, out that "I do,confirm". In that moment, all i thought about was the beautiful and spacious campus of the college, their vast number of co curricular activities and mainly, the better crowd of people. Thus, I went in the next day and got the admission done and cancelled the one at the other college.

Faculty

4

Maximum number of faculties in this college have done a Ph.D in their area of interests and respective fields. Many hold a Masters degree. A few have published their own books, but a minimal few, have zero experience in teaching, despite that they're full of knowledge and are able to control the class well. According to me, the faculties definitely meet the level of education the college promises to provide.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd year students are eligible for placements. Most students opt for higher studies or other options. The placement cell is very helpful and patient. Most of the students who apply get placed. We also have summer internships and internships with NGOs which is a very good thing. The experience is amazing! Most students get placed in the consulting and marketing sector. Many well known companies vist campus all around the year. I plan on doing my masters in sports management. Before that I will be sitting for placements I plan on working for 1-2 years
