Remarks

Good for Mechanical and Production Engineering. Average for other branches. Good management. Decent facilities.

Entrance Preview

I had 85 percent in my 12th standard and 94 percent in my PCM aggregate. My JEE score was 83. I wanted to do mechanical engineering from a good reputed college in Pune. AISSMS was good for mechanical and mechanical sandwich courses, so on recommendations of seniors and other factors, I decided to go ahead with this college. Also it was centrally located in the city, so communication wasn't an issue.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Pretty good for mechanical. The first year being common for all branches. Good focus on research. Encouragement to pursue projects, paper presentation. Good college teams like BAJA, F1 Supra, Go Kart, AERO Design, etc. Course can be tedious at times if not understood well but maintaing attendance, listening to the professor's teaching should encourage you if you like your core.

Internships Opportunities

Internship provided compulsorily for the sandwich courses i.e. Mechanical Sandwich and Production Sandwich. Stipend for them ranging from 3000-15000 depending on the students performance in academics, communication skills and companies. Good experience for 6 months in core companies guaranteeing a placement for the Sandwich guys. For other branches, internships are encouraged though not made compulsory.

Placement Experience

2.5

Good IT placements that's about 65-75% provided your marks aggregate is above 60%. Core placements depend on the market scenario. Generally core companies select students who have experience in the respective job profiles the companies are looking for if the market is low. If the market is good then core placements shouldn't be a problem provided you've done well academically (minimum first class).

College Events

5

Mechpulse for the mechanical department. Shivanjali and Ashwamedh are two cultural events. Good participation drawing crowds up to 1000 people. Other general stuff like traditional day, DJ night, fresher's party are decent as well. Decent atmosphere but (sorry to sound like a chauvinist) girls are just about average, if not below.

Fee Structure And Facilities

1Lakh something for open. Kind of expensive since it's a private college. Excellent management though. For castes it's cheap ( no surprise there). Once can apply for the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme TFWS while applying to the college if you feel you're in the top 15 applying there.

Fees and Financial Aid

TFWS - Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme. For students whose annual family income is less than 5 lakhs. They can apply and the facility is provided based on merit basis i.e. composite score. Only 5 people can take the TFWS in one department. So make sure you're in the top 10 to 15 students when you're applying to the college to make sure you get this scheme of you want it.

Campus Life

3.5

Speaking in Marathi would be an advantage for any college in Pune. Mixed crowds. Finding people like yourself is key. Mostly a Maharashtran crowd, though there are quite a bit of students from up North as well. Gender ratio is good compared to other college about 1: 8.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Horrible facilities. Better join a PG or share a room with friends. Very poor hostel facilities for girls. No hostel for boys. Average rent would be about Rs. 1000-4000 depending on location, number of people in the flat, facilities in the flat, etc

Alumni/Alumna

I was part of the Go Kart making and racing team in my college. Great experience. We finished in top positions in many all India events. The college has an excellent umbrella of these teams called 'Resonance Racing' . Resonance Racing is one of the oldest racing teams in the city having won prestigious events like SAE BAJA, Formula 1 Supra, National Karting Championship and taking part in tons of other national level, car making competitions. This is a unique experience for all those who join. Also the college is very active in sporting events hosting ZP, District level cricket, football and various other sporting competitions on the massive ground.

Exam Structure

Once you get used to the routine is pretty chilled. For the first two years there are two online exams and one written exam for each semester. The last two years have two written exams- one in-sem exam and one written exam for each semester. The exams are not difficult, but follow a certain pattern. If you crack the pattern, you'll do well at the exams.

Admission

Admission directly through the CAP(Centralised Admission Process). College was helpful, why wouldn't they be? They're getting students right!

Faculty

4

Good, experienced faculty. The expect to be treated with a lot of respect. Give them that and you're pretty sorted. Good teaching skills on an average. Helpful to a certain extent and irritable sometimes. Well qualified in their respective subjects. Some quirky teachers who should be kept at arm's length. Teaching in English, communication in Hindi or Marathi.

Placement Experience:

In my college students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester and every year many companies come for hiring. Recently companies like TCS Accenture Cognizant Hitachi JSW Group Philips Axis Bank and some startups also visited so we get both IT and core chances. As per the latest data the highest package was around 24 LPA and the average stays around 6 to 6.5 LPA for most students and the lowest offers start from 3.5 LPA so it depends a lot on the role and company. Many students get placed but it mostly depends on skills performance and branch so it is not guaranteed for everyone. I feel the college gives decent chances but we also have to do our own preparation because competition is high. If I dont get placement from campus then I will try off campus also because there are many openings outside specially in IT. Overall placements are good for this level college and since companies keep coming for drives students who prepare properly usually get at least one offer.

If one wants direct placements in comapnies such as Wipro, Cognizant, Hexaware, TCS and many more, SIT is the place. Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus. Practical v/s theoretical balance: Labs, workshops and real world projects are a core part of the structure, especially in engineering, design, and science programs. CIA like case studies, presentations, and assignments encourage hands on learning. However, in some programs, there is a still heavier focus on the theory, so students must actively seek extra learning resources
