Course Curriculum Overview
IGNOU is just like any brick and mortar university. There are departments that stand out, departments that are mediocre and departments that are doing a lousy job. This is a degree offered by the School of Social Science and Humanities. The notes offered by them for distant learning are on par with the best psychology textbooks in the world. The contact classes and practical classes conducted by lecturers at the Bangalore center that I was attached to were exceptionally well taught. However, having said that I have also heard of horror stories emerge from IGNOU students who have taken up other courses. Hence, I request you to do due diligence assessment, talk to a few former students and then arrive at a decision.
Fees and Financial Aid
For Indians the fee for a semester is Rs. 6000/- And fees for per subject in Term End Exam is Rs. 120/- But if you are an international (like Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Srilankan, etc.) Then the fees per semester is Rs. 12000/- And fees for per subject in TEE is Rs.150/-
Campus Life
How do undergraduates at IGNOU manage to maintain a social life? A2A, IGNOU provides weekend classes at study centers, where we discuss our problems with professors and meet with other fellow students. We have to maintain a minimum attendance percentage i.e. 75% for all theory and practical classes. In my case, my study center is strict on attendance, you cannot manage to get the hall ticket without attending any practical session. Many students also do other things in parallel like a job, a family business, some other course from a regular college, some diploma or certificate courses. So, maintaining a social life is not a problem for them. There are few students who are serious about their studies, those who attend classes regularly, study regularly and aren’t engaged in any other things except their course. For them, maintaining a social life is a big problem. They find it hard to interact with people, as they don’t have any seminars, festivals, events to attend, they keep it as it
