Remarks
I have applied to St Joseph's College of Commerce and St Berchmans College only. I chose SBC for its vast legacy and the college life that it provides to its students. It has a vast campus spread over 64 acres and provides a good atmosphere. The admission is based on merit and there's no donation or anything for the college there's also the self-financing department where fees are fixed by management but it is also comparatively low. The college provides different opportunities for the students to showcase their abilities. But they will give utmost importance to the academics than the other activities. The college has completed 100 years in 2022. The college is autonomous and has its own syllabus and exams are conducted and results are published timely.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose B.Com as the college is very famous for its commerce department and it's one of the oldest depts. Of the college. There's a teacher Student ratio of 1:30. Teachers also act as personal mentors to students to guide them through their journey. The faculties are too good. There are projectors in each and every classroom. The department has its own library. It is not that hard to pass the exam as most of the questions are based on the syllabus taught in the classroom.
Placement Experience
In the last semester, students get the opportunity to sit for campus placement. Reputed companies like EY,Deloitte, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank, Cognizant etc. Comes for placement. The package varies starting from 2.5 lakhs. Not all students get placement and placement cell provide training for students also.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for a semester is about 3000. There are separate examination fees which is also very affordable . Apart from there are no other fees. College used to provide scholarships for those students who are very poor and used to provide free lunches for them. Vincent de Paul society takes care of this. Also department provide scholarships with the help of alumni for the toppers in each year
Campus Life
The campus life is pretty good. The dept. of commerce hosts the annual fest causerie which is one of the largest fests in Kerala. The library is not that great but has some goods and projects which can be used as references. The classroom has projectors and is clean. Annual sports events are conducted where we compete against each department. There's also a debate club, quiz club, drama club, and music club which is run by students.
