Remarks

The eligibility of any undergraduate course is passing the 12th standard or its equivalent from any recognized board/organization. Also, there's no age limit for enrolling yourself in this college. This college is affiliated with the University of Allahabad, so all its admission process begins along with the Universities and the other affiliated colleges. You can apply for the entrance exam from the official website of Allahabad University and its fees are 650rs for the general category, 600rs for EWS/OBC, and 550rs for SC/ST category. The application is usually available in April or May every year, but you can find the dates in your local newspaper or on the university's official website. Once you clear the entrance exam, results will be declared and merit lists are released every one/two weeks and then you can choose the subject of your choice if your name is on the list. The admission process is smooth but I would advise to take admission in the first few days in order to avoid long queues.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course because I was inclined towards art and humanities from an early age but my school didn't have the arts curriculum in its +2, so when the CMP Degree College gave me the opportunity, I grabbed it. The faculty-student ratio is around 1:70. It sometimes increases to 1:90 but the faculty is well trained to handle such a ratio without breaking a sweat. The entire teaching faculty is just AMAZING! When I entered the college and saw its infrastructure, I was not impressed. But when I met the professors and attended their lectures, I realized I have found gems! They all are either doctorates or Ph.D. scholars. Their teaching methods are tailored to perfection according to their individual subjects and they have great communication skills, excellent command over their subjects, are soft-spoken, and have immense patience, given the fact that their students come from all across the state. This college conducted yearly exams (not hard) back in 2020 but now they have a semester system.

Internships Opportunities

1

During my three-year course at this college, I did not hear about any internship opportunities from the students of any other course or stream, neither was I able to find any information about this on google.

Placement Experience

2.5

As I said earlier, I completed my graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, so placements are not provided in this course. However, as per google facts, students can apply in the placement cell, once they complete their UG/PG courses and after placement, get a median salary of Rs 1,50,000 (after UG completion) and Rs 2,40,000 (after PG completion). I couldn't find the percentage of students getting placements. My plans after completing my graduation have always been to prepare for civil services and that is what I am currently pursuing.

Fees and Financial Aid

This college didn't hike its fees even once during my 3-year journey. On the contrary, the fees were reduced every year. The fees are different according to each of the individual subjects you choose or get. Since it's a government college and the course I opted for was Bachelor Of Arts with subjects English Literature, Sociology and Education, the fees in the first year were 1350rs, the second year it was 1250rs and the third year or last year it was reduced to 1150rs. On top of that, scholarships were given to those students who belonged to the economically weaker section of the society, every year and they were more than its annual fees, enough to provide for the books as well. This college has a placement cell but the subjects I graduated with, didn't give me a job on campus.

Campus Life

4.5

I wouldn't be wrong if I said that the years spent in this college were the most precious and happiest days of my life! So life at the campus was really amazing. The infrastructure isn't impressive when compared to a private college, but for a government college, its size has all the necessary sections an educational institute needs. There's a gym, separate grounds for football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and cricket, a library, science labs, nicely ventilated classrooms, and a modern and well-furnished community hall where all the events and fresher's/farewell parties are organized. Throughout the year, different kinds of events, quizzes, functions, and competitions (sports as well as the others) are organized in each of the different subject departments. The library is never short of resources (books, magazines, guides, etc.). Most of the classrooms have normal blackboards but in a few departments, they also have a smart class. Allahabaduniversityfamily.in is run by seniors to help.

Placement Experience:

For campus placements, 6th semester students are eligible. There are various companies which visit our campus for the campus recruitment process some of them are IDFC First Bank, Adda 24x7, Piramal Finance, etc. The highest package offered was 5 lacs and the average package as per company was 350000. 40-50 percentage of the students are getting placements in the college every year. After the BBA Degree, I am planning for the Masters Degree for better placement. |

The sociology course teaches me the norms of our society and family we live in. This course will provide a vast knowledge about the society and culture and this made me to choose this course. The time given is enough to complete the course and to understand it . The exams are conducted after every six months so the difficulty level is moderate.

Amity University, Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Economics)
Reviewed on Nov 15, 2024(Enrolled 2018)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum at Amity University is a well rounded blend of theortical principles and practical relevance that shaped my future career. There are modules like microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics and statistics that provide a strong formation for any future career opportunities in economics or finance. Additionally the presence of specialise subject like health economics, developmental economics, international trade, public policy and behavioural economics very highly appealing and something you would not find in other universities or/and government university. The inclusion of such modules got my attention because it promised to go beyond traditional economic subjects and focusing on the practical subjects that are also industry specific level of domain of economics. They were also research projects, data analysis classes, case studies throughout the three year course which allows students to apply and test their knoweldge that further enhance the value of the degree. There were also subjects like environmental sciences, psychology, communicative English which was made mandatory for students that help them shape their personality and adapt more to a corporate setting. The examination system is designed to assess the viability of skills and critically but the difficulty of exam especially towards the end of semester can create unnecessary pressure for students. There will be time that there will be last minute syllabus changes or additional chapters to be considered and there is no structured format of what you can expect in the written exam however there is a fair grading system though some students feel that instead of the exams there can be more emphasis on analytical side rather than modules that require rote learning.
