Management is somewhat very strict and harsh towards students. Too many illogical decisions. (Personal as well as mass opinion).

I took IIT JEE Advance 2014, scored 195 and secured 2819th AIR. I was confused between IIT Roorkee Chemical and IIT Patna CSE. I had passion for Computer Science but was reluctant to go for newer IITs. Finally I chose IITP and I'm glad I did.

Course curriculum is derived from IIT Guwahati (IITP's mentor college). It's exhaustive but really quick paced. Enough electives are offered (although I still don't feel their importance. BTech curriculum is not much focused on research. It's like jack of all trades but master of none.

Yes. It is mandatory to join an internship after 3rd year in any of the three categories:1. Research intern at any recognized academic institute.2. Research intern at R&D section of any company 3. Industrial training at any company Students apply on their on behalf in the companies they are interested in, as well as college guarantees an internship to all students. Some top companies where IITPians have gone:Google, Amazon, L&T, Mercedes, etc.

Placement is quite good. Avg package of CSE is around 13.47 lpa. Overall avg of Btech is around 9.12 lpa This year a student from 4th year CSE got an offer of 1.8 Cr from Google.

There are many festivals being celebrated in the campus. 'Anwesha' is the annual techno-cultutal fest of IITP. It witnesses students from various colleges. Celesta is the technical event. Reverberence is for diwali celebration. Nebula is the fresher's party. There is an E-week for the management events.

Fee structure is the regular IIT fee structure. Tution fee is 90K (2 semesters - 1 year), but from 2016, it is proposed to be 200K. Other than that all expenses including accommodation, messing comes out to be 36K per year.There is also provision of MCM scholarship which reimburse the tuition fee and provide additional stipend to the economically weak students.

Hostel charges are nominal which are included in fee structures. Currently IITP has one boys hostel and one girls hostel so a room is shared by two students upto 2nd year and then single room per students for 3rd and 4th year. Mess food is sometimes good, most of the time bad. You can't expect mess food to be good in any college.

Being a new IIT, alumni network is not so wide. But there are some alumni which have contributed to institute back.Ragging is strictly prohibited in IIT Patna or in any IIT for that matter.Seniors are extremely helpful. They will provide you classes on whatever your hobby is. They give you tips on how to get internships and jobs. And they throw you parties.

Days are really laborious in college. There are two quizes (regular class test on paper), one mid semester and one end semester exams. If you really came to study, you will find yourself all the time burdened with studies. A time management is must required or you will lose your college days in vein.

I must say, faculties are really dedicated towards their job. Contrary to old IITs, faculties here are young which makes them more energetic, they always are helpful to the students. I have heard that in old IITs, faculties don't show much of an interests in students. But we have this advantage of dedicated faculties.Also in comparison with new IITs, IITP has a higher number of faculties.
