Remarks
The basic requirement for this course is you should have physics, chemistry, biology, or maths in your 12th standard. Admission takes place through a VITEEE exam by which ranks are generated and based on that category is made for the fees. You can directly apply for the exam by going on their website. Generally, in the case of biotechnology, the cut-off is low.
Course Curriculum Overview
If you wanna go for biotechnology, VIT is the best private college you could get in India. And since COVID breakdown, the chances of biotechnology have risen up. Even the student-faculty is ratio is fine here, it's either 30:1 or 60:1 which is completely fine. In the case of biotechnology, all the teachers are PhDs only like working as a researcher. Students can even ask their faculty if they wanna work on some sort of research. Most teachers here are pretty good and possess good knowledge about the subject. Speaking of exams, there are three exams in total. Two unit tests and one final exam. If compared to other colleges, passing on vit is hard like you genuinely have to go through that subject otherwise chances of failing are high.
Placement Experience
In general, students get placed like in 3rd year but here it doesn't go this way. It's usually during the 4th year. Many companies visit here but I am not sure about it for placement in biotechnology. But it's not a really high-paying job like 6 lakh P.A. Like most of the students, I also plan on going abroad for higher studies as biotechnology isn't much at bachelor's level.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure depends on the rank of your VITEEE exam. If your rank is high, you could get a seat in the 1st category, basically the category with the lowest fees but if rank is low then you have to go with 2, 3, 4, or 5th category which gets expensive successively. If you get some really good rank like under 100 or something then VIT provides you scholarship as well. The fees for the 1st category are 1,71,000 and then it goes to as high as 5,00,000 in the fifth category.
Campus Life
There are 2 cultural fests that happen here since I haven't visited the campus so I am not sure about the overall experience. If speaking of infrastructure, it's really amazing. Libraries have got all sorts of books to study. There are around 150 clubs, chapters, and NGOs which are volunteered by the students there and you could learn a lot of stuff by working there. There is a club and society for every single interest from games, sports, literature, debate, dance, cultural, public speaking, financial education, fitness literally everything.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are like normal types. No special support. You can't use any electronic device that consumes high power and that includes a blow dryer or kettles. Speaking of mess, there are three types of a mess - Veg, non-veg, and special mess. The food quality is good as compared to other colleges. The registration process for the hostel is kinda pathetic. Preference is given to 9 pointers which is a really stupid rule and the hostels aren't really affordable as well. They are expensive if compared to the services they provide us.
