Entrance Preview

I recently took JUET (Jammu University PG Common Entrance Test) for PG in Physics. I had two options, Mathematics and Physics. But my passion to unravel the secrets of nature made me go for Physics.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is exceptionally good but unfortunately no or very little focus on Research. Talking about the faculty, the college has a high class and a reputed faculty with all of them being doctorates.

Internships Opportunities

My internship experience was pretty good. I worked with HDFC for about a year. Almost 30-35 companies visited the college last year about 200 students did their internship with 20 companies.

Placement Experience

3

The placement opportunities are not that much. This is the only front where this college is lagging behind. Only 2 students were placed in 2014 in Wipro and HCL.

College Events

5

The college holds only annual festivals like the College Annual Day. It is a pretty large event and various scholars from within the state/country attend the venue.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College awards the top 3 students every year with a Merit Scholarship.

Campus Life

4

There are about 2000 students studying in the college out of which 300-400 are girls. The college hosts students from around the country and has a very diverse atmosphere. About 1/3rd of the total students are nonlocals. The college organizes cricket and football matches at intercollege/state level. Debates and seminars are also organized on regular basis.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostels are not that good but looking at the fee they charge, it's a thumbs up from me. They only charge a mere sum of Rs 2000/- per month and serve you with the most delicious food you can get in that rate. Moreover they are pretty well organized.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumini of this college include some prominent polititions of J&K. The seniors and the alumini are constantly in touch with the students. There is also an Alumini Association of this college. Overall experience on this front is 9/10.

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

The curriculum provides me with Whatever is sufficient in my course and whatever knowledge I need, I will have more than that. Exam timing should be in the afternoon only because morning gets very late in coming due to which exam gets skipped, rest it is perfect

Placements aren't that good and for Zoology it's like the research roles in labs and under research professors so mostly a salary of 30-50k is what students of Zooly gets at our college and even DU stidnets get the same.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose science-non medical subjects being MATHS, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOLOGY. Reasons are my interest and love for these subjects. Class students and teachers ratio is good: 40-1. Teachers' qualifications are also good: MSc, Ph.D., NET qualified. Our exams were semester-wise [once in six months]. it was easy to pass if you just study normal and attend classes.

Remarks:

A Good College Even though the college life seems like a fairy-tale to you, it is not. There are so many things that you have to be careful about when you are visiting a college and checking out its ambience. Don’t get influenced by the clean campuses that most of the colleges have; they purposely do it so that people like you get attracted to their appearance and join their team. If you don’t want to waste your hard earned money on the fees of the wrong college which spoils your fairy-tale dream, you might want to take admission in a college that’s good enough for students like you.
