Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BCOM as it will help for my future goal in finance. Each subject has different teachers. There are min 80 students per class. The qualification of the teachers start from bachelor's and master's degrees and rank up higher. The teachers are approachable. They not only teach the syllabus but also give us insights into the corporate world. They help with the practical application of it through case studies. Industrial visits help us know how it functions in the real world. There are 3 CIA's. Cia 1 is for 20m and will have 2 components that will be conducted after 1 month the class starts. Cia 2 is the mid sem exam that is written for 50m. Cia 3 is for 20m and it includes presentations. Then the end sem exams(ese) are for 100m and are written. 5m is awarded for Attendance. The CIA and ese marks will be divided by 2 and will be totaled for the final marks. If we pass(40%) ese then the cia's marks will be added and the results are published. If we fail ese we have to write again.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is compulsory at the end of the 4th sem. But the college doesn't offer them we have to go in search of it as the crowd at the College is huge. The internship that we choose must be related to the specialization we choose for the final year is finance, banking, and insurance, or human resource and marketing. If we are not able to find an internship at that particular period then we will be given a topic on which we have to write a report and present it for which there will be viva conducted.
Placement Experience
There are Placement opportunities available at the campus. Reputed Companies come to recruit students such as JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and many more. It begins from the 5th sem that is the final year. We have to have an aggregate percentage of 70 in order to apply for placements. There will be various rounds in order to clear and get the job. My plans after getting the degree are that if I get selected in the placements I would go work or else I would go for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
BCOM costs Rs.55000 per year for me as a student from Karnataka. It increases upto a certain percentage every year. The fee structure varies for students of Kerala, other parts of India, and NRI's. There are scholarships available and we can apply if we are eligible for them by providing necessary documents. Internships take place in the final year(5th sem). We should have an aggregate percentage of 70 to apply for it. Reputed Companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and many more come to recruit students.
