Remarks

College admission is based on the merit of the students. There are two types of seats available in the college, one is Government quota seats and the other is management quota seats. Admission to the government quota is done directly by the CEE. This process is based on the rank obtained by the students for the KEAM entrance examination. Government reservation policies are applicable in this case. Management quota seats are filled directly by the management of the college and are done on the basis of the merit of the student in the higher secondary examination and KEAM combined. Special consideration will be given to the students belonging to the diocese of Palai. Apart from that, there are no special reservation benefits offered by the college. The overall admission process is purely based on the merit of the students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum and exam structure are relevant. The curriculum provides a brief knowledge about our opted course and makes us an expert in those. They train us in almost every area of expertise. A wide no of companies usually come for recruitment. The college has all sorts of labs and Hi-Tech facilities. All the faculties have their post-graduation done at NIITs and IITs and some have their PhDs. Some of the teachers are very strict even though they care for us. The electrical course is basically a tough course in the engineering field. If you try to love the course it would be easy to learn. Exams are sometimes easy as well as tough regarding each course. The series exams are held two times every semester with a time gap of 2 months. The college has a pass percentage of more than 65% in the end-semester examination. Internal exams are designed such that we can pass with an average study.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The college is providing internships in various trades. Students get internship opportunities from the 4th semester itself and almost 90% of students get internships in various companies. The college is having zonal offices and branches of various companies inside the campus so it is helpful to get internships directly inside the campus. The major companies providing internships in the college are Wipro, Infosys, HCL, etc. Also, there is a placement cell that is working with full assurance to get tied up with several companies and MNCs. This internship provides a wide range of opportunities for the students and it helps them in getting jobs easily in many companies. So overall the college provides ample internship opportunities for the students.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college offers good placement opportunities. The campus recruitment packages are really good for the IT sector and for other branches no such opportunities exist. The college has a good placement percentage with more than 60% of students getting placement. CSE branch has a huge placement percentage with more than 95% of students getting placed. The average salary package offered to the students is around 3.6 LPA. The highest salary package offered to the student is 9 LPA. All major companies visit the college for placement. Major companies visiting the campus for placement activities are Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, HCL, etc. The placement drive begins from the 7th semester itself and special training will be provided to the students for facing the interview. The college has a very active placement cell which assists us in all our placement-related activities. College also provides internship opportunities from the 4th sem itself and almost everyone gets a chance for doing internships.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is really high since it is a private college. There were no fees hikes during the course of my study. And such hikes are possible only if the government approves them. Campus does not provide any kind of stipend, only for the M-tech candidate's stipend was provided. The fees are less for the merit admission students and a little more for the management admission students. An expensive fee is also there for the hostel room facilities and mess. The payment is accepted in all means through bank transfer, liquid cash, online transaction, etc. The college provides special scholarships for meritious students. The college provides fee waivers for students with more than a 95% mark in plus two or less than 10000 ranks in KEAM. The complete guidelines for availing of the scholarship can be found on the college website. The cost of the study is approximately 5-6 lakhs.

Campus Life

4

The college itself is known for the infrastructure and facilities it provides. The college is well equipped with all the facilities. The college canteen should be mentioned separately because of the hygiene and the quality of food served. College offers free Wi-Fi to every student. All the labs are well equipped with highly experienced lab managers. The college promotes various sports such as Basketball, Cricket, football, Volleyball, etc and provides enough facilities for the same with separate grounds. The college conducts cultural fest and sports every year. A lot of technical events are conducted by different clubs in the college every month. The annual tech fest ASTHRA is conducted every year. The college provides very less extracurricular activities which need to be improved. The college has a very active IEEE society and Startup Bootcamp. The library is well equipped with all the amenities needed for our studies and research. The classrooms are well maintained with all the amenities.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies - [KUFOS], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Food Technology)
Reviewed on May 11, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was never interested in engineering. I passed KEAM entrance exam. So my parents forced me to become an engineer. Since I was interested, I thought food technology might be a good branch in engineering. So I got admission in KUFOS through allotment. The course is actually good . In the 1st year, you study basic engineering, 2nd year onwards food related courses are taught. If you are a student who only have the intention to study you will find this college easy to adjust. They provide all facilities to study. There is no particular frequency for a semester. Even though academic calender is there for each batch it is not followed properly. In this college the course may last upto 4.5 years. Due to this reason the students ask the management to cut shot semester breaks so that they won't loose 1 year.
