SCMS: One of the Best BBA Colleges

As I have an OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India), I was admitted to SCMS under the International Students quota. The admission process as an International student is quite different from that of Indian students. No entrance exam was required and admission was based on merit where 10th and 12th grade marks were taken into consideration.

I chose this course as I was interested in pursuing a career in the corporate world, particularly in the field of finance. Based upon extensive research, I was able to understand that Symbiosis had one of the best BBA programmes to offer wherein one could get both theoretical and practical expertise and experience in management. There are about 50 professors and about 350 students per batch. The professors are all highly qualified with a good grasp of the curriculum and minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience. Most of the professors rely on presentations, case studies and research papers for teaching. Some of the professors also try to come up with innovative ways to take lectures like having debates, doing games like Kahoot etc. The term exams are conducted after each semester and usually takes place in the months of October and April. The exams usually are of medium level and are not that difficult to pass.

There are lots of local companies in and around Pune that usually offer internship opportunities. Some companies include Unschool, Wiggles, DeltaX, etc. Most of the roles are related to Business Development, Marketing, Operations etc.

From 6th semester onwards, students will be eligible to sit for the placement process. Every year, 90% of students who apply get placed. The companies that usually visit college include Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, Zomato, Barclays, GOMO, Credit Suisse, TresVista, ICICI Bank and many more. The average package is about 5 lakhs and the highest can go up to 15 lakhs.

As an International student, the fees was comparatively higher than that for Indian students. It came to about 4.5 lakhs per year. The college does offer a lot of internship opportunities in various fields or management with stipends based upon the role.

Life at campus is quite lively. There are a lot of extracurricular activities in terms of clubs, cells, and sports. This includes music and dance clubs, editorial board, research and development cell, student council, placement cell and much more. In addition, there is also the annual fest of SCMS, Sympulse, which is entirely organised by the students. There are various departments that the students can join where they gain practical experience in different aspects of management whilst having fun. The campus has all basic amenities like smart board classrooms, library, computer lab, gym, health centre, amphitheatre, cafeteria, juice centre, basketball court and open ground.

The hostel is quite close to campus and there's a bus facility that can be availed to and fro. There are three sharing as well as two sharing rooms with cupboard, desks, bed and bathroom. In addition, there are also common rooms with tv, pool tables and basketball courts. There's also a pantry which has an iron, microwave, electric stove and cooler. There is a mess which serves good food, four times a day (inclusive of snacks). Both veg and non veg food are served. The registration process of the hostel is similar to that of college. A form and various documents related to being admitted in college has to be submitted.

As an International student, I did not have to undertake these procedures for admission. The only procedure I had to go through for admission was to present my 10th and 12th grade marks. My admission was entirely based on merit.
