Remarks
I took the JEE main exam for admission to this program. You can apply for jee main on the official website for jee main(jeemain.nic.in) or on the NTA website (nta.ac.in). The fee for the application is 1500 rupees. There is a 27% reservation for obc candidates according to the nta criteria. After you give the jee main exam and cleared it, I applied for counseling on the josaa portal. You get to fill in all the choices in the order you want admission in them. The counseling begins after JEE advanced results are declared. There are 6 rounds in the josaa counseling. If you get a seat good for you. Otherwise, there are two additional rounds called the CSAB rounds in which the remaining empty seats are filled. You have to register for it again on the CSAB portal and fill in your fresh choices. This is the last chance to get admission in JNU school of engineering in a particular year. Otherwise, you try again for next year.
Course Curriculum Overview
School of Engineering provides an amazing opportunity to take this specially designed Integra course where you can do BTech with Computer science engineering or electronics and communication engineering and then you can do Mtech in either those two fields or you can do MS in various other subjects such as foreign languages, economics, computational biology, environmental sciences, etc and these are the fields in which JNU specializes and it is the second-best university in the entire country. There are ample amount of qualified faculty present in the school of engineering and there are also guest faculties from other schools who specialize in fields other than engineering and they introduce us to those fields in the first year and other years in the forms of optional courses. Almost all the faculties have a Ph.D. in some or other fields of engineering and they are more than qualified to teach the students. The term exams are held on time but since covid-19, the timetable is a bit disturbed.
Internships Opportunities
As of now, we don't have any offers from companies from internships but students are doing internships with many companies bypassing some competitions such as GSOC, etc, and with the help of other platforms such as Internshala. I also participated in the e-Yantra competition organized by IIT Bombay.
Placement Experience
Our school is a new school established in 2018 and any batch had not graduated yet. So the placement scenarios cannot be told here but there is an active placement cell functioning in JNU which tries its best to bring the top-notch companies to our campus. You become eligible for placements in the final year of your degree. My plans are to get campus placement in a good company after completing this degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee per semester is 63000 for general candidates. There is a 50% concession for obc candidates whose parents' annual income is less than 5 lakhs and for sc/st candidates, the tuition fee is 0. There is a one-time fee of 13000 during admission. The faculties provide us with various scholarships opportunities as they come across some. No other type of financial assistance is available as of now.
Campus Life
The JNU campus is an amazing campus located in South Delhi. It gives us one of the best campus experiences in the entire country. We have our own Hackathon in the school of engineering called Hack JNU. There is a central library located on the campus which is one of the biggest libraries present on any campus in the country. Books related to almost every field are present there. There are various clubs such as the coding club (Co.LD), development club(Loop), dance club(Baila Amor), music society (Bandish), chess club, robotics club(de Robotica), sports club(Kreeda), etc. Also, there are stadiums and tennis courts present on the campus.
Hostel Facilities
There are all types of rooms varying from single occupancy rooms to 5 people staying in one room. Every student gets a bed a table and a chair in their room. There are ample lights and fans in each room. The bathrooms and toilets are also nice but not as good as they should be. The mess food is okay, sometimes it's good and sometimes it is not. You can get a hostel on the campus if you are not from Delhi and it is very cheap. The procedure is very simple, you can just submit your admission documents at the hostel and they will a lot you a room.
