Life at IIT Madras

IIT Madras is ranked no.1 institute in the field of engineering by NIRF in 2021. This institute is also famous for its work in the field of science and research. The admission criteria for M.Tech is clearance of GATE exam. I took admission in the general category. I applied here through COAP Registration process which is a common portal for admissions into IITs , NITs and other participating institutions.

I founded the course curriculum very interesting and intriguing. Since childhood i used to fascinate about the devices that worked in/near the ocean and i used this same interest in this course. Guest speakers were also invited from some of the great companies involved in manufacturing of submarines and devices. Level of examinations clearly stated the level of an IIT as they required rigorous hardwork and practice.

In my batch, 135 pre-placement offers were made to the students and by this number you can analyze the success of placements at IIT every year. Rs. 22 LPA was the highest CTC offered to the students. Some of the companies that pick up students from IIT are American Express, Microsoft India Pvt. Ltd., Bajaj Auto Ltd., EXL Service, IQVIA, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, L&T, Amazon, Deloitte India, Raukten Mobile, Tiger AI, Axis Bank, Bain & Company, EY India, Intel .

Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) is an option available to students in lieu of financial assistance. Talking about the scholarships, you can check for the same under the website of the government. Rs. 4.18 lakhs is the entire cost to study here including the tuition fee and excluding the accommodation expenses. At the end, loans from banks is always an option.

Campus life of IIT Madras is amazing. Institute’s cultural grand fest Saarang is a big hit every year. This event attracts a great deal of audience and participation from all over the campus. I also took part in Lit Soc and thus had lots of fun. My friend circle also got expanded a lot. I learnt the technique of network building. Infrastructure of the campus was also good and beautiful.
