IIT Madras Review

IIT Madras is one of the most popular colleges in India and is ranked number 1 in terms of its engineering program by NIRF. Being part of such a prestigious college is an honor. The placement of the college is no doubt best in class it is one of the best colleges in terms of the best return on investment. I opted for IIT Madras college because of its educational standards and placement record of the college. The candidate must clear its GATE exam must have attained 60% marks in the graduation program in the concerned stream. The candidate has to appear for COAP counselling after clearing the GATE followed by GD and PI round.

The curriculum of IIT Madras is no doubt follows industrial norms and standards. The college is quite popular for its engineering program. The curriculum is a blend of theoretical and research work to impart students with the knowledge related to their stream and develop analytical and decision-making abilities. The curriculum is designed in a way that students are encouraged to learn technical knowledge, think creatively, evaluate critically, in addition, to developing a sense of leadership quality.

After completing the first-year students are eligible for the internship program. the college placement committee and the faculty motivate students thoroughly to take part in the internship program. If you are involved in any kind of research then you can skip the internship program. The stipend for the internship ranges from Rs. 35000/- to Rs. 2,00,000/- depending on the tenure of the student. Internship helps students to attain knowledge about the corporate world and helps to understand the corporate working style.

The college is one of the best colleges in terms of placement. The college provides you with one of the best returns on investment. The college placement committee is very helpful and they are able to attract good companies for placement drive. The highest package for our batch went up to 65 LPA and the average package stands around 21 LPA. Most of the students receive pre-placement offers during their internship program. I also received a package of 25 LPA from Qualcomm. Companies like Qualcomm, Microsoft, Honeywell, Texas Instruments, Goldman Sachs, American Express, L&T, Deloitte, Amazon, Raukten Mobile, etc visited our campus during the placement drive of the college.

The college provides scholarships to merit students. Education loan facility is also available and the college admission department fully helps you out during the education loan process. The campus life of the college is very happening and fun. The college library is the home of 20 lakh academic and non-academics books around the world from all kinds of authors. The college infrastructure is also good. Students can join clubs according to their department like for Arts - Kalakriti, Analytics - Enigma, Debate - Rhetorica, Economics - Arthonomics, Finance - Fin-Addicts, HR - FoHRum, and Marketing - Mercado, etc are just to name some. The campus also provides 24 hours high-speed WiFi connectivity.

The hostel rooms are good, big and spacious. Rooms are available in a triple, double and single occupancy according to your program and year. The hostel rooms are cleaned 4 times a week. Students are also provided with a laundry facility in the hostel. The hostel celebrates all the festivals like Holi, Pongal, Onam, Diwali, and New Year’s Eve. The food of the mess is also good and healthy. The hostel provides all the basic amenities that are necessary for the students.

The faculty are of the highest standards. The faculty is very much experienced in their field. almost all the faculties are of Ph.D. level with industrial exposure and research work experience. Most of the faculties are from the top most institute of India and abroad. The faculty and students' interaction is very good. Faculties are always ready to help students in their studies and research work.
