Review of BCA in St. Xavier's College , Ranchi

I took an entrance examination. I qualified and my result was on the first list. l don't know about the reservation because l didn't get any. I got the application form from going to the college and getting the hard copy. The cost of the application form was Rs 800. The application form of BCA usually comes in May. The application process is well organized so l don't see any improvement.

I chose this course of BCA because there is a lot of opportunities in this course. Because today almost everything is computer based. Also due to the covid pandemic, everything is done online. The faculty: student ratio is about 4:120. I don't know exactly about the qualification of the faculty but most of the faculties are good. The teaching method of the faculties is good. They have good knowledge of their area. If I leave 1 or 2 teachers then their behaviour is also good. The exams are usually conducted timely but due to this Covid pandemic, the exams are not on the schedule.

I have not done any internships so I can't tell about the roles and stipend offered during the internships. One project I did was about the Criminal Management Record System in semester 4 which was about making a layout of a database management system to manage the records of criminals.

From the 5th semester, students become eligible for campus placements in our BCA department. The name of the companies that came is SAP, Infosys, Wipro, Delloite, TCS and Accenture. I don't know about the number of offers made. I am selected in Wipro and they are giving me around Rs 15,000 a month. I don't know about the offers of other companies because l was not selected. I don't know about the highest and lowest packages. The percentage of students that are getting placements is around 25 %. I plan to join any company in campus placements and then grow from there.

The fee is around Rs51,800 a year which can be split into two instalments if a student gives their applications to the Vice- principal . I don't know about fee reduction because l have never done that. A classmate of mine had done that and his fees were reduced to around Rs 44,000 a year. Regarding on campus jobs, till now I am selected in Wipro. Companies such as TCS, SAP, WIPRO, Infosys etc come to our college.

I went to college only in the first year because of afterwards the COVID pandemic stroke our country. So, I can't tell much about college life. The annual tech fest is not happening again because of the COVID pandemic. There are 2 libraries in our college that I know . First is our department library and another is the main library . Books are generally available in the libraries . Once I borrowed a book from our department library. But now due to the pandemic we are not going to the college. Classrooms are good and well lit. Also, fans are there in our classrooms. I don't know about the sports or extracurricular activities in our college because l didn't take part in any of them. Also, I don't know about the social groups, clubs or websites for students that are run by students.
