Remarks
The eligibility of the course was to have attempted the CAT or the GMAT exam. The cutoff of shortlisting for the interview round was not explicitly disclosed but it must be around 88%ile for the PGDM-Core course while it must be around 85% for the PGDM-HRM and PGDM-BFS courses. The application form was available on the official college website, the application fee was INR 2000, and the application deadline was between mid-September to mid-December. Overall, the admissions process was very smooth. Before the interview round, a short WAT round was conducted (20 mins, 200 words). Once that was over, I gave an interview with a panel that consisted of 3 panellists and I was asked to first give an introduction, then go through an extempore round then and there. This was followed by a series of questions, mostly related to my reasons to pursue an MBA at this stage in my life.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it offered Core-PGDM with a wide range of specialization choices for the second (final) year such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, Strategy, and Analytics. The faculty at the institute is a mix of both highly experienced old professors as well as new and qualified professors. At least one guest lecture was included as a part of each course outline and these guest lectures were taken by esteemed industry professionals working in that area. Student ratio per faculty member is mostly 1 is to 100. The teaching methodology is mostly case and example based while some faculty members only focus on the applications through given questions. Each trimester has timely quizzes, then midterm exams, then more quizzes and finally the end term examinations. Each course has a component for group projects and assignments as well as a small component for class participation was also a part for most of the courses. The examinations were moderately tough to pass.
Placement Experience
The campus placements start with the first trimester - the Summer Internship Placement. Before getting results for the first trimester, most of the students get placed. The overall placement statistics are great and are displayed in the reports available on the website of IMI.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure that is provided on the official website of IMI is the one that is followed throughout and there are no mid-year hikes. If the ROI is calculated based on the course fee and the average placements, the value is quite good. The internship offerings that are brought to students by the institute include a variety of companies with stipends. The jobs being offered for final placements are great, with desired managerial roles in various domains of specializations such as Finance, Marketing, Consulting, HR, etc.
Campus Life
Due to the pandemic restrictions, I haven't visited the campus. Nevertheless, the online orientation at the beginning of the course was an excellent experience with multiple exciting tasks and games and events arranged by the student council. There are various different committees, I am also a part of one of them. Each month we have various managerial events, contests, webinars with multiple fests throughout the year.
Interview Experience
First, there was a WAT round with a 200-word limit in 20 minutes on a general topic related to Indian economy status. This was followed by the interview round. It started off with asking me for my introduction and then I was given a topic for extempore. The topic was "how important do you think the subject of history is in the current era". This extempore was followed by a series of interview questions which lasted for about 25 minutes. the questions revolved around my achievements, my reasons to pursue MBA at this stage, justification for not wanting to gain work-ex, etc.
Other Applied Colleges
XIMB | MBA-HRM
Because of the location being less favorable. Also, could not clear the cutoff for Core MBA at XIMB.
IIM Sirmaur | MBA-Business Analytics
Because the course was a new one for the college, it would have been the first batch of the course.
NMIMS Bangalore | MBA
Because this campus wasn't the main campus of NMIMS University, also lower average placements.
IBS Hyderabad | MBA
Because of low average placements and much larger batch size.
