Remarks

I chose this university because I wanted to experience the study in Punjab like how the teachers would teach as compared to my previous college. Yes firstly I applied for the admission through online process from the college site and then I paid online for the admission along with the first semester fees. Reason for preferring this college is in my previous college the faculty members were selfish as they wanted only their children's to grow but in this college it is not like that.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As I wanted to study further and want to work on a particular subject. The faculty members in this college are good as they doesn't want their students to get spoiled. There is no for partiality for the student from outside state as they teach in all the preferred language in India mainly Hindi ,Punjabi,English.

Internships Opportunities

3

No , basically I just completed my 1st year examination and I am waiting for the results. Mainly my course is of 2 years and for the first year we need to study all the subjects and only from the second year onwards specialization will be done.

Placement Experience

4.5

Mainly one of the reason for me to join this is because I have heard and seen in the site also that good companies like Tata , Dell, Microsoft, etc and others just visit the college for the selection of the students who is better maintained.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is basically normal as per semester we need to pay Rs. 34000 , I mean in 6 months. The opportunity for scholarship is basically for those who wants to join after +2 for further studies and this will depend upon the percentage of students ranging from 70 to 100 % only this percentage holders are allowed to fill the scholarship form.

Campus Life

5

Life at the campus, basically the campus is very huge as whenver you start entering the college then it is basically like a palace with the huge garden or park type in the centre. Two storeyed building which is basically large is a library for students as firstly we need to apply for the library card and then we can get our books from there. Yet till now I didn't get chance to get into the class due to Covid pandemic and we are having our classes online. Mainly I have heard that Jalandhar is famous for sports so I do think that sports part would run very will in this college too.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes basically I m in a rented room and then I pay only for living in this room and my food work I basically do from outside mainly dhabas, hotels daily basis.I think like when we stay in hostel or PG then we don't get freedom along with that we won't be able to eat what we like to but if we are outsider then we can do it easily.nk

Admission

No. It was direct as there were two options provided one was for the GATE students as they had to sit for the test and one was the direct one with the straight admission.Lets see in future what will happen as my 1st year examination is completed.

In Chandigarh University you are being elligible to sit in the placement from the end of the 6th semester . A large no. of companies visit the unversity daily for all type of departments talking about my department , companies like Zopasmart , JTG , EY , JP Morgan , TCS , Cognizant , Deloite and many other companies came for the college comapnies with ann average comapny selected upto 10 -12 students . Till now the highest package offered is 37 LPA for the role of software developer . Talking about the no. of students placed from the total students in the batch i would say less then 30% percent of the total students have been placed from the university campus placements till now . Curently i am also focusing on the campus placements to get a start to know more about the corporate world , If i am unable to get a campus placement the i ll go for offline interviews and spends 4 to 5 years in the field after that i ll start my own buisness .

The placements are okay for the BBA and MBA departments. The average salary isn't actually that good for the students and most of the roles that companies come for hiring do not target the desired roles of the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum needs to focus on what you can do with information rather than the information itself. I wouldn’t eliminate content, without background we cannot form good, rational, and educated conclusions. We are still giving timed tests in math facts! I know that’s traditional, but it just isn’t as important. My era had no calculators and we needed to be proficient at paper and pencil solutions, but now, perfect calculations are available to everyone. We should focus on what kinds of problems can be solved with mathematics. Spelling is equally less important. Vocabulary should be stressed. My sister years ago was taking a test for a personal assistant position where she was asked to type a large number of words per minute error free. She was laughing at such a test. She said no one does that anymore, they just type then run spell check. Technology is changing our NEEDS opinion is that curriculum should reflect our reality. No one gets paid to solve problems that have already been solved. Students should be exposed to solving problems they have not seen before but that can be solve with the content they have learned in class. This will help them develop problem solving strategies they will be able to use the rest of their lives

Remarks:

I did not get admission in any other good college as my JEE Mains result was 85 percentile only. My 12th result was quite good in this aspect with PCM% as 96.33%. So I decided to go for Thapar as it allowed admissions through 12th PCM% and was the best college I was getting. Thapar has NIRF ranking 25 and good placement records which made me choose Thapar as my college for Under Graduation studies. The thing I like most about the college is that it's huge and it's infrastructure is very good with all the advanced technologies equipped. Also the culture in Thapar is pretty friendly and healthy competition is also there which is required for a person's overall growth. I have opted for Computer Engineering in Thapar as I've always been interested in computer science subject and have taken computer in my 12th class too. So, I had a fair idea and quite an interest in this subject.
