Remarks
Because the cost was low since my family is poor. Good thing was that it was a government college so the fees was minimal and bad thing was that during first year the quality of education was worst as there were only a few permanent teachers so we had to study with guest lectures. The admission process was very complicated first we were called to patna for counseling there we had to choose our college on basis of our rank in entrance exams then we were told to go to our college for further process so on the day of admission we went to our college with a demand draft of admission fee form there it went smoothly. I preferred this college over others because it was cheap and it was the best college that our bihar government had to offer.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose mechanical engineering because of its need in engineering field and its importance for our country growth and above else due to future prospects. During first year there were only 15 faculties but during second year due to a program called TEQIP about 50 to 60 teachers joined they were all very very qualified most f them Had Mtech degree bit some of them had a PHD degree.they were highly qualified and fluent in teaching though some of teachers were not good as we expected them to but it was nice that we had good teachers.the exam were timely and one could pass them if they just studied 7 days before the exam. The exam questions were moderate.
Internships Opportunities
I went to internship to indian institute of engineering science and technology shibpur(IIEST shibpur) kolkata during 2nd year and my topic there was heat transfer. We did research on how heat is transferred through different membranes. During 3rd year I went to CENTRAL institute of mining and fuel research dhanbad(CSIR Dhanbad). My topic was properties of high carbon steel we did destructive and non destructive test there. I worked universal testing machine and electromagnetic machines to check crack or faults in ferromagnetic material.we had to make a report at the last of internship to get the internship certificate the faculties there were quite supportive so I was happy.
Placement Experience
Placement are only for civil engineering students the highest offered is 5 lakes and lowest being 3 lakes.the student are eligible to apply after 6th semester only 15 student out of 230 to 250 students get campus placements rest had to try on their own. I am preparing for ssc. I didn't get my degree till now due to pandemic but we will get it by December 2021 according to our college head.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Admission fee was just 22226rs for SC and ST students while others had to pay 30000rs as admission fee. But during second year the government decided to lower the admission fee to 10rs so it became like dirt cheap to get admission in our college. Scholarships were provided to student who had a family income below 2 lakes annually. They can apply each year for scholarship meaning during college they could apply for times and gets 4times admission fee back. We also had access to student credit card provided by bihar government to take loans.campus selection was only for civil engineering students that too went to smoke after first year. Companies stopped coming to our college during my time in college.
Campus Life
Our college had a annual fest called Umang which was held every two years. The student organized this event with the help of college money. It was mostly conducted between April and may. Our classroom had 3 fans and a green board for studies. Some of the other classroom had Ac but we mostly studied in classroom with fans. Our college had two big clubs one drama club and other tech robotics club. Sports played at our college include football cricket and badminton. We had two huge playground where students played cricket football and volleyball at evening.i was surprised that we had an I door stadium for badminton. One of my friend named pranshu made a website for UMANG but I don't what happened to that website after Umang.
Hostel Facilities
During first year it costed 22000rs but during final year it costed 27000 rs but good thing was we could get our money back if we didn't use it. A breakfast costed 18rs lunch 36rs and dinner 36rs. If we didn't eat a meal it won't count and our money won't be deducted. At the end of year if we had some money left I'm mess account we could get it back through cheque. We were provide with staffs who cleaned our rooms and filled our water bottle in morning and evening. So life was good going in hostel. Meal quality was average we got rice roti plus pulses and two type of vegetable during lunch with salad so it was nice and what else can one expect in 36rs.they can even send the food to your room if you don't want to eat in mess.
Admission
We had an written exam that we needed to pass to to get admitted to college. It was not that tough we needed to just study basics of chemistry physics and maths to pass the tests. I didn't prepare specifically for the exam as I was confident that I could pass it.
