Remarks
To be honest, I didn't even know that this college existed. I took admission to MMDCH because one of my relatives suggested it to my parents. That's why I choose to attend this college. Once I was there, I thought of all the fun which everyone expects in a college, little did I know that these 5 years are going to be the worst 5 years of my life. I'm not even exaggerating. Everone single student shares the same experience. They churn you out in these 5 years. They completely dominate & control your life. They can demand money anytime & for anything such as college development funds, hike in college fees without prior notification, or if you reach your college one day late after your holidays, etc. The admission process is too easy. You must have had appeared & qualified for NEET. You need to have PCB in your 12th boards. The management of the college is the worst part of MMDCH. I would never recommend it to any student.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BDS because I didn't get MBBS. But slowly and steadily I fell in love with dentistry. There are enough faculties in MMDCH but the problem is that they keep on changing. Even though the college is in Darbhanga, you get to be mentored by doctors from all over the state. We had professors from Tamilnadu, Punja, Rajasthan, etc. The faculties are highly qualified in their respective departments. The teaching method depends on the faculty. Some of my professors were very helpful and were seriously concerned about our academics while some were there only for the extra bucks. In short, you'll have both bad and good experiences. We had 3 internal tests and 1 final university exam at the end of the year. Now comes the ugly truth, whenever any student fails even one internal test, you have to pay a fine (any amount which the management asks for). Until and unless you don't pay the fine, they won't let you appear for the university exams.
Placement Experience
As you all know, there isn't any placement in medical and dental colleges. You can always open your clinic or join a hospital. For opening your clinic, you need to have a good practice. In that regard, MMDCH is very good. Its OPD is huge. By the time you graduate you would have done a lot of cases. And this will be very helpful for your practice. If you don't want to open a clinic, you can also prepare for PG. You can be an MDS in your preferred department. Dental clinics run very well but you need to have the patience for the first 10-12 months. There are many job opportunities in the gulf regions. You can also go to DDS.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee changes every year but generally it's 3 lakhs/annum. The hostel fees are not constant. They can increase the fees any time of the year. They ask you to change your room anytime they want. The hostel rooms are allotted by the management. You'll never get your choice of room. The rooms are not at all well ventilated. They always cut the electricity supply during college hours. So, if you're on sick leave, then you have to rot in the heat in the summers. The food is getting worse day by day. They are increasing fees but they are decreasing the quantity as well as the quality of food. They will also charge you extra in the name of instruments, manuals, etc. There isn't any sort of scholarship which the college gives to the meritorious students. And yes guys, the internship is unpaid and overworked. They get the money from the government since it's a minority college, but you won,t get a single penny. Instead, they ask for money once you pass your finals and begin your internship.
Campus Life
The Josh fest organized by the college was the best part of MMDCH. There were many sports events held during the fest. We also have the library but we were not allowed to borrow books from the library. You cannot go and study in the library whenever you want. The lecture theatres were well furnished but sod does not have AC. We were not allowed to go to the market if we need to buy anything. We only use to get one-day outing per week and that outing was only for 2 to 3 hours and if you are late even for 1 minute, they will either ban you from going to the market for the next one month or ask you to pay a fine. There is a Cafeteria on the college campuses and it doesn't provide you with much. The cafeteria charges an extra of 150 to 15 rupees on every product. The college also has a gym and entertainment room in both the hostels. There isn't much to keep yourself entertained in college, but, if you are a nerd like me, then you can pass your time by studying or being on your phone.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms will be allotted by the management. You won't have a say in it. It's entirely impossible for anyone to change their room. The hostel rooms are either side or two bedded. There isn't any Ac or even a Cooler room. You cannot even own an electric heater. They'll raid your rooms and take away your stuff. I had lost my hairdryer in this process. You cannot even own an electric iron and they don't even provide any laundry service. But we use to have irons, as it is a necessity. We used to hide it under Z+ security. The food was good when I was in my first year but day by day it's getting worse. Now, they have even stopped the evening tea, which we used to get. Most of the time you'll have to clean your rooms, as the maid won't come. The management cuts off the electricity supply during the college hours. It's very difficult to get sick leave. There isn't any proper washroom for girls in the college and if you insist on going to the hostel washroom, they just don't let you do that.
