Remarks
Jorhat Medical College is an administration institute. It was set up in 2009. It is a subsidiary of Srimanta Shankardeva University of Health Sciences and it is endorsed by the MCI. Students who need to take admission in this college need to show up for NEET-UG with the latest of 60% in 10+2 and their subjects must be PCB or PCMB. The application form is available on the official website of the director of medical education, Assam. Reservation is given to all ST, SC, EWS, OBC students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course educational plan is extremely adjusted and organized.There are both practical as well ase theory classess daily , also clinic postings from 4th semester onward. The course educational program is organized so that it covers the all of them. Usually the faculty of a medical colleges are doctors. In this college also teachers cum doctors teaches us in a very unique ways, they Highly experienced doctors. They tell the students about the tough surgeries they have performed, guide them and help the students with their internships.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for government medical College is affordable and it's very less as compared to private medical colleges. The total cost of the whole Mbbs course is around 1.5 lakh. But the books and notebooks are very costly. We go get scholarships from government portals and non government organisations like a foundation for excellence, Ajmal super 40. They provide entire course fees.
Campus Life
Every year student union conduct College week. During this week they conduct various cultural and sports competitions and give prizes to winner at final days. The college organizes extracurricular activities from time to time for the holistic development of the students. The college organizes many seminars and workshops on various topics to provide exposure to the students.
Hostel Facilities
In the hostel, we have both single and double rooms. Single rooms are very clean and comfortable. In the mess, they provide meals 3 times a day and evening snacks. They provide non vegetarian food also. Every month we have to pay Rs 2000 for the mess. The hostel is allotted from the principal office based on neet rank. Nearby pg and rented rooms are not available easily. They are already booked. And the cost is also huge.
