Remarks

First, the eligibility of courses is quite good, and for the application form you can visit their website or you can visit personally the college and get into your preferred course, personally, I have got admission through the scholarship given to the meritorious students of j&k and I got admitted through that and also there are some reservations for sc/st students. Everything in the admission process is smooth, so no need for improvements.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

So I have done b.tech in mechanical engineering and I choose this field because it is also known as an evergreen branch through this you can go into any field like aeronautics, designing, production, etc so thats, why i choose this field and also the faculty was really good with the students and quite knowledgeable and also the machinery required for this course was also available in the college and every batch, is divided into 2 sections, one section consist of 40 to 50 students and there is enough faculty for these two sections and all the faculty members have done MTech in mechanical engineering and also in one semester there are two sectional tests and one-semester test.

Internships Opportunities

3

Most importantly for the students who are seeing this review, I would suggest they try to take the internship in good companies like tata or any other good company even if they didn't provide you stipend just do the internship from them because internships from these companies hold good value in your CV and there aren't many companies which provide internships with a stipend so you have to apply also and you just don't have to depend on colleges for the internships and do alot of projects during your course as that they also holds good value in your cv and there is a minor project after 4th sem and major project in 7th or 8th semester whichever you choose and also try to engage with your professors as they have alot of connections and they can provide you a good internship.

Placement Experience

3

After the sixth semester you are eligible to sit in placements and there are alot of companies which have visited the campus like Wipro, Amazon, Capgemini, tcs, byjus, and many other big companies and also some local companies and the highest package was offered by amazon around 18 to 20 lakhs per annum but that was for CSE branch and for mechanical it was around 10 to 12 lakhs per annum, personally, I didn't sit in any of the placements as I wanted to do masters and talking about the percentage of students getting placed is around 40 to 50 percent currently I am pursuing my masters in mechanical from TU Germany.

Fees and Financial Aid

So the fee structure is around 117000 per year and for the hostel, it is around 72000 per year but as I have got the scholarship so I don't have to pay the fee and also there are a lot of scholarships if you are from sc/st category or you have good grades in 12th grade or you have good score in jee and also they can assist you financially if you talk to them about your finances at the time of admission, and there are alot of placement drives in the campus but I wanted to pursue my masters so I didn't take the placement.

Campus Life

4

So the tech fest happens every year on the campus mostly in the month of November and the annual fest doesn't happen there but alot of celebrities come there to promote their movies or songs on the campus and the library this college has, is quite large consists of a variety of books, journals, novels and newspapers of a lot of languages and they also have seating facility for the hostel students of they want to study and the library closes at 8 pm every day and most of the classrooms are e classrooms consist of projector and screen and the seating facility in the room is quite comfortable and all the classrooms are air-conditioned centrally. Talking about the sports on the campus it has a big ground where you can play cricket and football and it also has one volleyball court and one basketball court and every semester college organize the tournaments of all these sports and also give prizes and certificates and also there are alot of other extracurricular activities like a spelling bee.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

For the first six semesters I opted for the hostel and it was a three-person room and it was quite a big room with an attached bathroom and one air cooler and two fans provided and three single beds and three tables and three chairs and also wifi connection in the hostel which you cant use during college hours, so as compared to the other hostel foods which I have learned about from my friends from other colleges the menu and food quality is average and it serves non-veg and paneer one day a week and it has different meals throughout the week, you can register for the hostel at the time of admission and you have to pay semester per semester and for one semester it is around 36000 rupees and it hikes annually 10% so for the seventh semester I rented a flat in the locality of new Amritsar and talking about that locality, it was quite peaceful and I rented a flat with four other students and it had two rooms one kitchen one bathroom big lobby and one balcony and one ac. The rent was 10000 pm.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In 3rd semester a student is eligible for campus placement but it is all upto to students that they have to maintain a good cgpa and skills for interviews. In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
