BITS Pilani USP (including Placements and Internships)

The admission process consists of multiple iterations with a cumulative cutoff for each iteration and a heavy drop in cutoffs of every branch is always the last iteration. Every detail I found was either available on the official website of BITS or Quora. No Reservation/Quota of any kind.

A dual degree course is taken as a shortcut to get Into a circuit (CS, EEE, EC, EnI) branch at a lower bitsat score and the college is said to be comparable to the top 5 IITs in reputation and placements with an even better internship system. So I took it.

There are two modes of internships: 1. Summer Internships: Conventional method of tests, interviews and recruitment by companies like Google, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, HUL, Mondelez, Uber, JP Morgan, etc. 2. Practice School System: Total of at least 8 months of internships provided by the campus itself to each and every student without holding any tests/interviews etc. Out of a pool of 800 companies in the summer after 2nd year and one semester in their last year as a part of the curriculum in companies like Google, Apple, Cisco, Flipkart, PayPal, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, Uber, Udaan, etc. Just on the basis of CGPA. The stipend per month ranges from 20k to 200k, with an average of around 50k.

Unlike other colleges, students get up to 3 routes of placements if you are from a single degree and 4 routes if you are from a dual degree. These are: 1. Summer Internship PPO 2. First PS II PPO (6 months guaranteed paid intern without any Internship tests) 3. Conventional Campus Placements 4. Second PS II PPO (Optional Facility for Dual Degree Students) The average CTC for all branches (through BITSAT) combined is 22+ LPA for the latest placement season. Also, Pilani scores higher in average packages than IIT Bombay according to India Today and the data on the NIRF website.

Every semester fee can be paid in 2 instalments. Scholarships: Merit based, MCN, SAF. MCN details- if you can prove your family income is lesser than 12 LPA (revised every year) then you get the following: 15% OFF on at least 6 CGPA. 25% OFF on at least 6.5 CGPA. 40% OFF on at least 8 CGPA. 80% OFF on at least 8.5 CGPA.

Cultural Fest: OASIS (2nd largest in India after MOOD Indigo) Sports Fest: BOSM, Tech Fest: APOGEE, Every kind of ground is available for every kind of sport including swimming/water sport. Also, each hostel has a separate playground of its own. Lots of startups and NGOs.

Hostels are Inside the campus only. Double seated rooms are for the first year, both single and double seated for the second year and only single seated rooms from the third year. Mess food is privately managed by 2 standard caterers with 4 time food provisions in a day. Food is better than what you get at home and probably healthier too. Separate provision for Jain, Non veg, any other special demand.
