Remarks
To become eligible for getting admission to one of the colleges of Delhi University, one has to appear for the entrance exam which is conducted by NTA (National testing agency) if they haven't done their graduation from DU. Those who have done graduation from any of the Colleges of DU, can get admission via merit as well but they should have above 85% in aggregate to match the cut-offs, otherwise, they can appear for entrance as well and get admission according to their marks and cut off lists. The application form will be available on the Delhi University central website and subsequent fees and dates details will be communicated on the same. The entrance exams happen once a year and for that registration form ( available on the DU site) needs to be filled and required fees to be paid and further details will be then communicated by NTA.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have done my graduation in BCom and wanted to further excel in the same field so I chose this course and since Delhi University is the most prestigious one and adds value to each course that is pursued, I found it appropriate to do my post-graduation. Although 400 seats in M.Com are divided between 16 colleges but classes for all the students take place in the Department of Commerce (DSE) only and it's a well-known fact that the faculty in Delhi school of economics is just amazing. The professors are known for their wisdom and knowledge and they are on the list of top professors of India. The teachers are very well experienced and very well qualified, giving in-depth knowledge of each and every topic in the syllabus. The teaching methods used by our professors are very unique and quite indulging. They explain everything while giving practical examples. Also, exams take place on a timely basis and if a student has attended most of the classes, he/she Will definitely be able to get good marks.
Internships Opportunities
Central placement cell (CMC) is responsible for bringing internship opportunities for all the colleges. Internship opportunities come in both years. Companies like Admitkard, decathlon, optum global, etc come for internships of around 1&2 months. The roles offered are mainly accounting, sales, and marketing, HR, editing, etc.
Placement Experience
After completing 1st year, we become eligible for sitting in placements. Companies start coming at the beginning of the 3rd Semester only. Companies come for every type of role such as consulting, HR, Analyst, and senior analyst, etc. Till now, the placements aren't as expected. Only KPMG, Magistral Consulting, Deloitte USI, Optum global have come with an average package of 5.5 LPA. The highest package for the 2021 batch has been 7LPA. The most important thing, placements aren't conducted college-wise, there is a central placement cell for all the 16 colleges and every student needs to get registered with it to be eligible for sitting in placements. Internship opportunities are also offered by The placement cell and companies like Paperpedia, Decathlon, and Admitkard, etc. Come for internships with no or very little stipend. 30-40% of students get placed from every batch.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since there are 16 colleges that come under Delhi University for Mcom, the fee structure of every college differs. I got admission to SGNDK College and the fee for my college is 19000 per year which is quite high compared to other colleges. As, it's a central government college so taking this in the picture, the fees to pursue this course is high. And fee hike occurs every year but up to an acceptable level. I didn't get any scholarship, the reason being a government college and as such there was no financial assistance and job that I have got.
Campus Life
The annual fest happens every year. Since we are taking online classes due to covid 19, fests are also happening online but the fun, excitement, and learnings remain the same. Competitions are being organized online and we are able to get a good exposure. There are extracurricular societies as well in our college and a selection procedure to get in each of them. Once a student becomes a member of an extracurricular society in which he/she is interested and keen to learn more, it's a new journey for them. They get to learn a lot because intra college and inter-college competitions take place every year and they get a chance to present themselves. All the ECA societies are run by students.
Other Applied Colleges
