Remarks
The admission process was really smooth in IIFT. It started with applying to the college from their official website. after filling in your necessary information it gives you 2 options to choose the college of your preference i.e IIFT DELHI or IIFT KOLKATA and obviously, you could choose both. Our exam was scheduled in January due to covid, after which they released the result and interview calls. The application form costs around 2500/-.and you need to visit the site to get updated regarding the application dates. The process starts with your written exam and if you clear your cutoff which is around 93 percentile for the general category, you get shortlisted for the interview process. This includes extempore, a written ability test, and an interview. After this, the final list of students is released.
Course Curriculum Overview
IIFT provides you an MBA in International Business which essentially means you get to do an MBA with international subjects exposure. It is a very niche course provided by very few institutes in the country. The intake of students ranges around 200 per campus and there is sufficient faculty available for each student. MBAs have trims and in each trim we study around 8 to 10 subjects on an average. Since now we had our classes online, the interaction with teachers is kind of limited but I am sure once we are on campus learning would be better. Apart from this if I talk about faculty, IIFT has good teachers who are experts in their chosen subjects and will definitely make the learning environment fun.
Internships Opportunities
Many top companies visit the campus offering various roles in finance, marketing, trade, consulting, product management roles. companies like HSBC, JP Morgan Chase, and co. , LDC, Maersk, Olam, Amazon, Flipkart, Loreal, Amway, Godrej, etc visit the campus. The highest stipend offered was around 1.6 lakh per month.
Placement Experience
Initially, we have a summer internship in which approximately 100 to 120 companies visit campus offering various roles ranging from finance, marketing, general management to consulting, IT, and various others. The placement for IIFT happens for both the campus together. Essentially Kolkata peeps travel to Delhi for their placements. The average stipend varies from 80k to 90k per month approximately. And the highest is around 1.6 lakh per month. IIIFT has 100% placements and many top companies visit the campus.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the programme is divided into 6 trisems with each trisem we need to pay around 275000/- excluding hostel fees. Most of the students go for loans as IIFT does have tie-ups with various banks to get easy loan disbursement. The average stipend for the student in a summer internship is around 80k to 90k per month. The highest stipend goes to approximately 1.6 lakhs per month.
Campus Life
Since now we are having our classes online and would be back on campus in about a month so can't really write about life on- campus. But even online we have a variety of events going on ranging from leadership Summits to Sports events. There are various clubs and committees which you could be part of. These clubs conduct competitions throughout so you will have something or the other on your plate. We have clubs starting from finance club, marketing, consulting, social awareness, Alumni relations, media comm, etc. You will always be occupied by the activities these clubs and committees do to make your MBA less strenuous.
Interview Experience
The written test in IIFT has 4 sections Quants, Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Data Interpretation and the last is GK. You need to clear sectional cutoffs for each as well as clear the overall cutoff. The overall cutoff ranges around 93 percentile for a general candidate. After you qualify for the written test, you are called for an interview. During our time we had an extempore first then the interview. Generally, the topics are related to current affairs so anyone who reads newspapers daily would easily sail through. We also have a WAT i.e a Written Ability Test. After this, we had our interview which for me lasted for 20-25 mins where they asked myriad questions ranging from my background to current affairs and trade. I essentially read the experiences of some past year students to know some patterned questions and then brushed up on my undergrad basics and general knowledge.
