Remarks

The college experience had both sweet and sad memories. More like a sinusoidal wave. Well even a straight on ER machine declares the person dead. The little sad bit about my college was that we were supposed to wear uniform for 4 years. Yea, as sad it may sound it even sadder in reality, We shall a two minute silence for our sacrifice towards attainment of a degree which in no way tells how much of good engineer we are.

Entrance Preview

I gave AIEEE second time. Yes, I dropped an year. I don't remember the exact score but I got rank around 40k : 500 give or take. The reason for my poor performance and reason for choosing this particular college is well, I was getting laid. Me being from the capital made the commute very easy. And I am a believer of this philosophy that one must earn a women's affection rather pay for it and I had earned my fair share and was getting replayed very handsomely so to speak.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

During the course. Till third year we were only allowed to study the subjects which they deemed fit. Electives came into picture only in fourth year. I don't complain what they taught was pointless but my argument being they were teaching us how to build fire whereas outside world was playing with the same. Years later when I entered the job market I realized that all that pain and hard work wasn't much worth because the curriculum and the technology demand of the market had a vast rift in between.

Internships Opportunities

This is one part about my college that I honestly detest. I had friends in other colleges who used to work at an internship for a whole semester whereas in mine it was just for the period of gap between the semester break. They are yet to realize the importance an internship holds in the life of a student, the experience once gained via this is irreplaceable.

Placement Experience

4.5

This is my favorite part .Well for every engineer in all honesty. You see despite no matter how many flaws JIIT might have. A JIITian shall never complain about the ample opportunities it provided to it's elite(I fall somewhere in between both),mediocre and below average students. Our both 7th and 8th semester were visited by both renowned and less renowned companies. Mass recruitment companies like Infy ,Cogni,Wipro paid a package about 3/3.5 lacs per annum. Companies like Deloitte and Amazon paid around 5/6 lacs per annum.

College Events

4.5

The college fest lasts for about three days where there all kinds events ranging from debating, technical ,cultural , not so aware about the management ones. But yea others are pretty competitive. All the nerds build their robots and make them fight. I wonder what sordid satisfaction they get probably overcompensating of their non existential masculinity. While the lazy arses like us just go to fest on the last day where we get the chance to break a leg and dance till our lungs burst out. Our college receives more than decent amount of sponsors. On my first year, our very esteemed Yo Yo Honey Singh enlightened us with his visit(Sounds hilarious when put like that ,right?). And on my final year Nikhil Chinnipa came, that event was pretty slick, you know.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure during my year costed a little over a lac per year excluding hostel fees . Considering it was a private engineering college. It was decent but later for the coming year batches they increased their fees. I wonder why. Because there was no such intensive development going on that time .Plus privatization of education always is paid heftily by the middle class man.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware whether such a provision was made or not. But yes I can recall that they had a scholarship scheme for students whose parents annual income was significantly low. If one thinks objectively why would a poor parent admit his/her student to such a college in a feeble hope of getting a scholarship. Some things just make you laugh and sad at the same time.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio of an engineering college are you kidding me ? We probably had a ratio of 7:1 in our batch and of the little oestrogen we had in our vicinity was either committed or incapable of holding an intellectual conversation. Diversity in our campus was pretty amazing. I got to meet people from various backgrounds and through them I got to see the world from a totally different angle. Extracurricular activities had active participation while I managed to hold my end on debates and MUNs other friends of mine filled the void left by me ;)

Hostel Facilities

3

I never stayed in hostel so cannot comment but one thing I can assure is mess food was pretty abysmal. I mean at times you wonder whether they gain some sadistic satisfaction in making students eat that tasteless food. I mean if it was raw then it would have tasted better. You see the student gotta suffer in class and now in mess as well. And they wonder why engineers falls for all the wrong habits in world. Things we do for some peace of mind. *Sigh*

Alumni/Alumna

I am yet to fully explore the alumni network because you see straight away after college I started working and the train hasn't stopped since then. But yea I had been in touch with my seniors via facebook/whatsapp . No that you mention I might just check on my alumni privileges. God knows I might stumble on something intriguing.

Exam Structure

I feel a bit ambivalent while recalling this experience. Our examination were followed one after the another meaning we rarely had a preparatory leave unless Sunday happened . We even sometimes had two exams in a day. But the fun bit is that no matter how many holidays one gets. The real study only happened the night before the examination on the other hand our lab examinations were a pretty cool affair. Since the advent of USB, pen drives has been at the helm of saving an engineer F. Accompanied by the most loved command by us all Ctrl+C,Ctrl+V. Can't imagine an engineer's projects without them now can we ?

Admission

I filled the online form before my AIEEE exam as a backup(glad to do that),going through this whole process once again ,I knew I had to keep my options open in case things don't work out, that is before 'she' happened. My counselling took place in Solan. While everybody was busy figuring whether they shall get their preferred branch or college. My mind was wondering what color lingerie shall suit her the best, just enough enticing yet at the same time graceful. When the process was complete I was just thrilled not only because I shall be returning in the arms of my lover. But I shall be spending four more years exploring that pudding of delight.

Faculty

4

Like school like college. We came across all kind of teachers/lecturers that we all had witnessed in our high school. While some were downright repulsive ,while there were others in front of whom our heads bowed automatically, while they were some who mesmerized us with their zeal towards the subject, some were straight away arrogant seeing their pool of knowledge as an ocean. There were professors who used to spark our post pubescent mind .. ahemm with their enormous knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose BTech because I wanted to explore how real world works with technology and to know the insights of technology. The college mostly provides theoretical knowledge and not the practical knowledge refraining us from more exposure to real world problems. If the course is shifted from theoretical to practical it'll be really helpful. Two exams are conducted per semester, and the difficulty level is moderate.

Our curriculum gets better from this year as so many changes occur due to college become autonomous Like a better coding platform bought by college for student i.e. CODETANTRA and some subjects of 2nd year introduced in the 1st year like COLD and DSTL , Promoting students to participate in Hackathon by mailing to the students about each and every big or small hackathon . Giving them free attendance for that thing . The frequency of exams are about 20 days .
