Course Curriculum Overview
VTU course curriculum is significantly poor. The curriculum does not focus on aspects that are required to secure a job. Therefore we are forced to take up courses elsewhere to get experience to secure a job. My 1st year of engineering did not focus on the subjects related to my field and it was unnecessary .
Internships Opportunities
Yes our college provides internship programs. I am currently doing my internship in IIM Bangalore with a startup company in the NSR cell. I am enjoying the work I am doing and looking forward for more quality internships like these.
Placement Experience
We have 100% placement in our college provided that we secure a minimum of 69%. Packages vary from 3 lakhs to 18 lakhs. Companies which generally visit our college are Accenture, Indian Navy, Oracle Financial Services, Bosch, L & T Infotech, PRDC, Celstream, Mentor Graphics, Sasken Communications, Continental Corporation, Metric Stream and etc.
College Events
We have a fest conducted every year called tatva. Depending on the year it is either a technical fest, a cultural fest, or a management fest. Our fest holds various activities such as management activities where we are given a product and we need to justify to the judges why they have to buy the product.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have not availed any loans in my college. Although the VTU institutions has a scholarship for scheduled class and OBC if they have secured above 80% in puc.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is 50%, Campus life is peaceful. We have an anti ragging committee and our college students experience no ragging or sexual harassments. Lots of extra curricular activities are conducted every year.
Exam Structure
It was chilled out actually. But I think we should have more practical exams rather than theory exams which will help us acquire and retain knowledge. Otherwise the exam structure wasn't very hectic. We have 3 theory internals for every subject and the best 2 are considered. We have 2 lab internals and 1 external lab exam for every lab subject in the curriculum. Then we have 1 theory external which carries 80 marks for every subject.
Admission
I got admitted by showing the letter from the COMEDK department that I was eligible for a seat in the college. We did not have to attend any interviews. Admission was based on the score we scored in the COMEDK exam. If the student hasn't acquired a seat through merit then the college demands a management fee in order for student to secure a seat.
Faculty
The faculty in our college are highly qualified and are very interested in the subject they teach. Since the curriculum does not focus on projects they take time to formulate projects that we can try out at home which is later assessed by them. They also give is activities in class which help us acquire more knowledge about the subject.
