Remarks

I took the IPU CET exam in 2018 for admission. However, today the admission is through CLAT only. I scored 1888 rank and got admission into Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies. I was from the general category so I didn't avail myself any quota. However, there is a quota for Delhi students. For the admission procedure, you have to participate in the counselling sessions after paying the required fees. , the dates of which are uploaded on the Institute's website. There are 3 counselling sessions and a spot round. You can always go for further rounds to increase your chances of getting into a college of your choice. After getting the college, you need to freeze/ float the seat as per your wish. After freezing the seat you need to pay partly admission fees of Rs. 40,000/- and partly fees will be paid at the time of admission. On the day of admission, you need to pay the remaining fees along with documents for verification. Please take note that the candidate should check the website regularly.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I opted for B. A. LLB ( Hons.) because I found it interesting. The college offers both B. A. LLB and B. B. A. LLB(Hons.). There were a total of 120 students in a particular batch. My college was new at that point in time so the teachers were quite less in number but today we have more teachers. There are many events and competitions happening at my college including moot courts. The teachers are excellent and they teach very well. Above all of them are very cooperative. The exams usually happen in two phases- internals and externals. Before external we also have viva. The internal exams are conducted twice per semester and there is one external exam per semester. There is also the requirement to submit an internship report after 2nd year of law school since an internship becomes mandatory.

Internships Opportunities

3

We have placements and internship cell which looks into this. Students are supposed to do mandatory internships from 2nd year of law school usually after the end of even semester. They are free to apply for internships at their end but if there are any difficulties, the cell helps them to find one. There is a rare chance that you might end up getting an internship that will provide you with a stipend unless you work exceptionally. Students have interned with top tier law firms like L & L, Jsa, Cam, etc. You will definitely get into top tier law firms if you have good contracts and references.

Placement Experience

3

My college is quite new as compared to other affiliated colleges. So 2022 batch will witness placements for the first time. However, we really have an active placements and internship committee. Law students usually sit for placements in their 5th year in the month of Jan-feb. Those who are interested in judiciary go for coaching. I am also interested to sit for placements and therefore, my CV should really look impressive:)).

Fees and Financial Aid

My fees package at the time of admission was Rs. 5,00,000/-. However, there was an increment. It is important to note that all GGSIPU Colleges have different fees structure which is updated every year. I found the fees structure quite affordable. Also, the college provides assistance to school toppers by facilitating them with laptops. Moreover, the rank holders of each year are awarded cash prizes. We also have an internship and placement committee which help us to secure internships in reputed law firms and Advocates. This year will be the first campus placement and hopefully, it will do good. Living in Delhi is an advantage since you don't have to pay for PG. There are many PGs around the college campus as well.

Campus Life

3

There are many societies in the college. These include classical dance, music, theatre, literary Society, bhangra society, photography society, tech societies, commerce society to name a few. These societies work actively and organise many competitions. There are many fests like WAC fest and GENESIS. Apart from fests in affiliated colleges, the main campus also has its own annual fest which witnesses huge footfalls. However, due to pandemics, everything is happening online. Our college has decent libraries which have all the books that a law student wants. Apart from this, we also have a system of book banks where students can issue books for a semester and can return them at the end of that semester, thus avoiding the hassle of re-issuing books.

At our college to get the PPO is the best way as college hardly has placements opportunities to be honest. Most law colleges though face this issue as placement for law college happens only at top NLUs and all.

Highest package was of 12 lakhs which was offered by Trilegap to one of our students and it was because she herself earned PPO by interning with them for four months. College placements aren't that good as not many lawyers or law firms come to our college for placements.

Not many as Arbitration lawyers and some law chambers which are a prominent name have approached our college to send some students for interview. So, I think PPO is the best way to find placements for students studying law.

Only 30-40 percent studnets get placed at a salary of some 30-40k as conversion ratio of actual placement is quite low here. We get enough help and assistance but actually only a few manages to. For those who does well in internships gets a direct PPO as our college is a cult name when it comes to legal studies.
