My MBA Experience

I applied to a few colleges namely SCMHRD Pune, SIBM Pune, NMIMS Mumbai, TISS Mumbai, IIFT, XLRI, XIMB Bhubaneswar, IMT Ghaziabad, and all the IIMs. The admission criteria for my program were twofold. Firstly, we had to clear a return entrance exam called SNAP. Then if a student had the minimum eligible Percentile he/she could then appear for the subsequent rounds. The subsequent rounds were WAT, GD, and PI. Then the students who clear these three were provided admission into the institute based on the merit list prepared. The admission process was very smooth and streamlined. We were instructed thoroughly on how the process will be held and it was systematically held the same way.

I chose to do Masters of Business Administration (MBA) as it's one of the premier courses for management. It is a course that has a holistic understanding of management and lets one explore all those to understand the different specializations and then pick one to do your MBA in. The faculty-student ratio is about 1:4 approximately with about 60ish faculty and 240 students. All our faculties are qualified well with many having done their Ph.D. We have had our internal term exams and they were taken in an online mode due to Covid-19 Pandemic. The exams were of appropriate level in lieu of what we taught and if one had given attention to the material being taught in classes, he/she would easily pass the exam.

A lot of companies like Flipkart, ITC, Info Edge visit our college for Summer Internship Placements and offer stipends ranging from 50k-1.5 lac per month. They offer live projects of the problems being faced by the company in real-time of which they need solutions.

We are eligible for Summer Internships in the first semester itself. Quite a lot of companies visit our campus and almost everyone gets an offer. For the final placements, we are eligible to sit at the end of the third semester. About 90-100% of students get placements every year in my college. My plans after my MBA are to do a job.

I do not have much idea about the fees hike policy and my cost to study for two years totals to about 22.75 lacs. I have not gotten any scholarship or financial assistance. Since I am in my first year I am yet to bag a job.

The annual fest held in our college is conducted by a committee called NEEV. We are provided with ample resources in the form of online Library platforms and books. There are all the basic amenities available in the classroom and campus. We have sports courts on our campus too. There are about 15 committees in our college.

Since I am doing my MBA currently in online mode due to Covid-19 Pandemic I do not have an idea about the Hostel Facility of our college. I do know that our college provides us hostel accomodation for both the years with meals included.

My topic for GD was the Impact of Covid-19 on the Indian Economy. The interview questions were based on my Resume and what did I interpret what was written in it. We had given a written test called SNAP which consisted of 60 questions which we had to in 60 minutes. The process was as follows: 1) SNAP, 2) WAT, 3) GD, 4) PI. I prepared the various topics for GD which could be asked. Other than that I gave mocks for SNAP to prepare myself for the same.
