Entrance Preview

I took CET and my rank was 17119. I chose this college because this was the only better college among the options that I had.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I took Electrical and Electronics Engineering. First year we had Common subjects and we were clubbed with other Course students. Coaching was impressive in the First year. Second year we started with our own course related subjects. Teaching was not up to the mark as compared to First year. We felt it hard, later as the semesters moved on things became easier. Students with good determinations can move easily.

Internships Opportunities

No SVCE doesn't provide internship. I've tried. Myself and My friends approached the Placement coordinator on this as well but it didn't help.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placements is very poor because students are not placed in the right field where their graduation was done. Yes, good job opportunities because quite a lot of companies visit college though they recruit to positions which are irrelevant to the course that the students were being trained in.

College Events

2.5

Orientation program - Conducted to welcome freshers, Sports day - Most of the games were outdoor games, Inter college fest - Udyukta was the name of our inter college fest. Other college students were also invited. Farewell day - Conducted as send off to Final year students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I joined in Government Quota hence I didn't feel any burden on my fee structure. I paid 18000 to CET and I paid 10000 to College fee and I deposited 5000 for Library. For the next 3 years i used to pay somewhere around 25000. Half of Library deposit was returned back.

Fees and Financial Aid

All the toppers (top 3) were given a scholarship of 5000 INR each semester. I neither availed any loan nor I heard about it.

Campus Life

4

Campus life was not as expected. Because College was very strict. Students were not allowed to go out of college once they are inside. Attendance was strictly monitored. Least importance was given to Extracurricular activities. Labs were good. Good gender ratio across the college (60 : 40 :: Boys : Girls).

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I'm not quite sure about hostel facilities and mess food because I was staying at home and I used to travel via BMTC bus everyday. At times I used to have canteen food which was okay. As far as I heard hostel is good and the mess food was not good and many students used to complain on the same.

Alumni/Alumna

College tries to keep Alumna connected by opening a portal to stay connected and keep sending mails regarding that. I don't think its very helpful. Don't have much idea how helpful it is.

Exam Structure

Exams were conducted very strictly. Our internal exams were conducted as strict as External exams, two invigilators used to monitor the class there was no change that the students can copy. Labs were frequently conducted. Lab days were hectic for students who don't have labs as students were not allowed to go out of college.

Admission

I selected the college in CET counselling in second round. Paid the fees that is defined in the form of DD at CET cell Malleshwaram, Bangalore. I went to college, filled form and paid the Admission fee and College fee in college. I was given temporary ID card and instructions.

Faculty

4

All mathematics, Physics and Chemistry faculty were very good in terms of coaching and helping. Few Electrical faculty gave more importance to Practical things rather than Theoretical things which helped in understanding the concepts quite easily. Lab attenders were knowledgeable enough to help students when required.

Placement Experience:

RIT's placement scenario is very good, even for the most unpopular branches such as Civil Engineering. Starting from the 7th semester, students are allowed to participate in campus recruitment, and companies come to the campus for the entire final year. The major recruiting companies are L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Sobha Developers, Atkins, PWD, and Infosys for the non-core sector. Civil students on an average get ?5–6 LPA as salary, and the highest offer is usually in the range of ?12–15 LPA, depending on the company and the position. Almost 70–80% of Civil students are placed, while some of them go for higher studies or government examination.Site engineer, design engineer, planning engineer, survey engineer, and trainee engineer are the core positions that are offered. Also, non-traditional roles in IT and consulting can be taken up by those who are not interested in core engineering profiles.I will first acquire some work experience in the industry after completing my degree and then will pursue a master's degree in structural engineering to gain further specialization.

Students become elegible for placements from 7th sem onwards but we are encouraged to do internship before final itself. Most of the companies that come here aren't t1 or even t2. Highest probably would be 12L only if the student is exceptional but most would secure a package 4-6. And the percentage of students getting placed is <50%
