Remarks
I applied to VIT, SRM and Amity University Noida. I gave JEE also but was not able to get any government college so had the option to choose between VIT, SRM and Amity. In VIT I was not able to get the CSE branch and SRM was far away so I choose Amity over it. I would rank colleges as (IIT ,IIIT ,NIT ,DTU ,BITS) > VIT,TIET > Amity,SRM > UPES,LPU> Sharda etc. There are two types of admission process if you have 12th percentage greater than 80% then you get direct admission moreover if you have marks between 90% and 93% then you get 50% scholarship for first year tuition fees and 100% scholarship if you have above 93%, this scholarship is continued on your further semester performance. The second procedure of admission if you have less than 80% marks is through AMITYJEE which is a basic test. The minimum marks should be 60% in 12th if you have less than 60% you get admission in Sponsored quota for which fess is 4.2 LPA.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because in engineering only Computer Science branch is has scope nowadays in the private sector every company demands to code from the students be it (ece, it or cse) and for other core branches (civil, electrical, mechanical) there are limited opportunities in the private sector they have better scope in the government sector where there is much competition. The Faculty: Student ratio here is 1:50 for theory classes and 1:25 for lab sessions. The faculties are well qualified every engineering faculty is mandatorily PhD here. There are good in their subjects but you cannot expect them to teach modern technologies such as competitive programming or any niche skills. There are two exams one mid semester and other end semester apart from that there are home assignments, quizzes, viva, presentations also, the exams are straightforward from the syllabus itself and are not difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
There are ample internship opportunities by around 30 companies most of them are Noida based IT companies out of which only 4-5 are paid. The projects mostly revolve around Web development, Android development, Technical content writing, Machine learning etc. with the duration of 1.5-2 months.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the starting of the 7th semester itself. There are ample companies which come. In total 250-300 companies come every year having a minimum package of 3.5 LPA. Every mass recruitment company comes here such as Accenture, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, IBM, Coforge offering 3.5-5 LPA and some mid segment companies are also there such as Genpact, HP, Make my trip, Amadeus, Thales, Impetus, offering package between 5.5 -10 LPA. Some dream companies also come such as Shell, Cisco, Zs Associates offering a package of 12 LPA. Some startups are also coming nowadays. Totals offers made are 2500 approx. The highest package goes around 15lpa and the average is 4 LPA. The percentage is 80% of students getting placed in CSE left 20% are those who have no competency or defaulters whereas the percentage in other branches is low around 40%. I plan to gain experience by working in the IT industry after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees are approximately 3,50,000 per year for engineering courses which increases by a fixed 11% every year and for accommodation you have two options one is a hostel which will cost you 1,50,000 per year for ac and 80,000 per year for non ac plus for fooding it costs approximately 6000 per month. The other option is PG which will cost you 15,000 per month with everything included food, laundry, rent, electricity etc, for ac accommodation. The option for the scholarship is on a merit basis, on admission you can get a 50% scholarship if you have 12th marks between 90-93% and 100% scholarship if you have marks above 93%. This scholarship is continued on semester performance. If you rank among the top 5% of your branch you get a 100% scholarship and if in the top 10% you get a 50% scholarship on tuition fees only. There is no such option as part time job on campus.
Campus Life
The Annual fest is Amity Youth Festival (AYF) which is held in March every year. The library of the university has state-of-art infrastructure with modern study spaces, separate cabins for PhD scholars and computer systems are also available. There is a facility of Wifi and AC also in the library. There are enough copies of books and journals covering each subject of each course taught in the university. The classrooms are modern having ACs installed, projectors and seats are theatrically in a spacious room. For sports, there are ample amenities. The college is having a huge ground suitable for cricket and football, a gymnasium, swimmimg pool, table tennis court, basketball court, badminton court and indoor games also such as a pool etc. Every year Sangathan is held which is Inter Amity sports meet covering over 15 sports. Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are having facilities such as beds with bedsheets, study tables and Almirah also. The bathroom is common for 4 students. If you are taking PG you will get some things in the room, only the room size will vary according to rent. Regarding food if you are taking hostel then there is no central mess for the college there are different canteens and outlets such as dominos, subway, Amul, dosa plaza and CCD in every block so basically you have to choose what to eat in every meal. The cost goes around 6000 to 10,000 per month according to your food and canteen choice. On the other hand, if you live in pg it will cost around 15,000/mo with everything food, laundry, rent, electricity included. The registration of the hostel is done on the college intranet website amizone.com and the hostel is allotted on a first come first serve basis. The fees are 1,50,000 for ac and 80,000 for non ac hostel plus the fooding cost which is 6000-1000 per month. If you want pg then see in sector 125 or 126.
