Remarks
With an online application registration, my form was submitted. Contracted by the admission desk and was later asked to sit for an online admission test called the JSAT. After that, a personal interview with one of the professors or the faculty members was conducted via video call. The minimum requirement to sir for the JSAT was a provisional marksheet of the 12-grade boards. The counseling day was mainly introductory to the professors and a monthly prestige program was also conducted to teach the students a little about the course subjects.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it is a cannon course for many career opportunities in the future. The faculty-student ratio is of an advantage as each and every professor is handed 7 to 8 students per year to mentor. The faculty is qualified in all aspects and their teaching methods are adapted to the online mode. The exams by the end of the first year were tough as journalism being a practical course needs first-hand teaching which lacks in online lectures so the exams weren't difficult to pass but nonetheless not so easy.
Internships Opportunities
The career services board of the college is of great advantage to the students as they help in enrolling for internships paid and unpaid all year round. The course requires 3 internships to be completed by the end of the third year. Many such internships are provided by the college only thus a student need not directly contact with the companies or firms.
Placement Experience
The college placements are a benefit to the OP Jindal Global University Students. Multiple established journalism firms like BBC, Indian Express, Hindustan Times, and all are in contact with the college. As the year previous to this was the first graduating batch in the journalism school no such information about packages has been revealed.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The fees even in the pandemic situation were not reduced but as we did not have to pay the hostel or accommodation fees we were well adjusted. Even after receiving 90 above marks in the boards, a scholarship was not given even when it was applied for they did not get back to us. No jobs are provided on campus.
Campus Life
Due to the ongoing pandemic, I haven't been able to visit the campus. But with talks with the seniors, I heard many pros regarding the infrastructure, music festivals, sports tournaments, and many more activities and student-based clubs.
Interview Experience
The test pattern was mostly general knowledge journalism-based questions and with a tad bit of technical applications-based problems. The personal interview was mostly a meet and greet type of thing with no to less serious questions. No preparations were required other than the latest information on topics of current-day news.
