Remarks

C V Raman college of engineering (NIRF top 100 ranked technical college) is under the BIJU PATNAIK UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY. Back in 2014 after giving JEE MAINS,I had applied for GEC Gunupur, Silicon Institute of Technology, and CVRCE. For admissions into technical colleges in Odisha one just needs to have JEE Main Scorecard (there is nothing like any cutoff marks). I chose CVRCE because of two big reasons. Firstly the placement opportunities it provides and secondly its location, its located in Bhubaneswar so it's well connected, has a good environment, You will get the best of Odisha here. You have other options here as well like KIIT, but it's a bit costlier. As I mentioned there is no minimum marks criteria. The state of Odisha has around 100 private engineering colleges under BPUT. Other universities like KIIT, ITER are also there (in Bhubaneswar). The admission process is very easy. The college staff is ready to help you with the process.A modern Students welfare is also there.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose Civil because I was attracted to modern construction technology, the college helps in the same. Various workshops and software courses are organized for the civil Engg students for hands-on experience on software like an auto cad, staad pro, etc. The faculty is generally Mtech qualified and teaching is at par with your expectations. Most important is the teachers interact with the students. Exams were super timely. Passing the semesters is never a problem, even if you get a Back/Fail, the registration process for the Back exam is very easy.

Internships Opportunities

4

During my days at the college, there were ample opportunities for internships, GOI backed internships (stipend-based, and jobs guaranteed). One can always go for individual choices. Minor and Major projects are done under the guidance of the respective professors assigned. My Major project was even featured in a tech magazine.

Placement Experience

5

5-6th semester- students are ready for placements. Software giants like Wipro, Capgemini, Infosys, etc line up at the college. A good number gets placed.80% get placed every year positively. The average package being 3lpa. Packages have went as high as 8-9 lpa .After the degree I plan to take up preparation for the different competitve exams of the core sector . Even after you exit the college the college placement cell helps you get a job.A plethora of coaching institutes are available for banking, engineering ,ssc etc in Bhubaneswar.

Fees and Financial Aid

Software companies line up during the placement season. With placements going as high as 5-7 lpa.talking about fees, it generally suits a middle income group.Plenty of opportunities for the residents of Odisha.for others the college has a special program to reward the toppers in respective branches.

Campus Life

4.5

Annual fests are organized every year, plethora of programs ,national and international level hackathons are a regular at the college. The college has state of art robotics lab,BOSCH centre of excellence.Talking about college social life, it's cool and comfortable.A humoungous collection of book at the library awaits an avid reader. The students of different branches have a robust presence on the social media.Sports is something special here. The college boasts of a newly built cricket ground,a swimming pool, etc.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facilities are average. I would recommend you go for rented accommodation. The rent for a 1/2/3 bhk is 4-10k . The food is good. Odisha is famous for some of the best Indian cuisines. You get all the good food in the hostel as well. but if you want some freedom from the monotony of the timings of the hostel, you should go for a rented accommodation, easy to find near the college. As far as the college room is considered,3/4 students are adjusted in a single room with 6-7 bathrooms for every wing(3 in each floor)

Placement Experience:

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.

Most of people go for PHDs and research after this course so the number of placements is a little less. Also, this unique Integrated Mtech course is new and the first batch of this 5 year course soon will be passed out. They are getting placement offers of 8-8.5 LPA per annum.

I choose this course because at first I was interested to automobile engineering but I didn't got it from other college so I preffered this mechanical engineering. It is a very though course as it seems. And there was 1:7 for faculty and student ratio. Faculties were highly qualified and some did PhD and m. Tech and other are fresher. The teaching skill differ person to person. The thermodynamics faculty was very excellent. In every year there was 2 semester and it is a little difficult. And before semester there was internal and viva.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Padmanava College of engineering is coming under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT , odisha). As there is always a myth about private colleges that they help in cheating but from my experience padmanava College is strictly against cheating and rather it supports quality of education. If you are a hard working student you will pass the exam very easily.
