K J Somaiya institute of Management Review

I applied for various B-schools like NMIMS Mumbai, Banglore; K J Somaiya Institute of Management Mumbai; FORE Delhi as they are in top tier-2 excluding NMIMS Mumbai; and these were my best shots looking at my Aptitude score of NMAT-241. NO, I didn't avail any quota for admission. For admissions at K J Somaiya Institute of Management; the cut-off score was 225 in NMAT and I scored 241.

The curriculum is well designed and it focuses on specific niches; the faculty-student ratio is 1:60 and it seems pretty fair; as faculties are always approachable. Faculties are well qualified and have PhDs from top universities across India and the world. Students are regularly tested on a quiz basis, and there are exams undertaken on basis of the trimester.

Various roles for finance, consulting, marketing and HR. A good set of companies are seen on-campus recruiting in decent numbers, and being in the most metropolitan city of the world i.e. Mumbai; K J Somaiya Institute of Management is able to attract good corporate houses.

The First-year students are offered Internships i.e. SIPs, and Final year students are eligible for final Placements. The placement record is close to 98%. Average SIP- 14000/ month. Average Final placement- 9 .3LPA.

The Fee is slightly high as compared to other B-schools at the same level. The college offers scholarship opportunities and financial status in certain cases; which is taken care of at the time of admission but the number is quite small.

The college has a plethora of clubs and committees; pertaining to one's hobby, passion and interest. The campus life is one of the finest in the country with a lush green 50-acre campus in heart of Mumbai. The classrooms are also well designed. The college has a gym, Football field, Running track, Squash, etc.

There was a Case Analysis for the admission; Students were given an impromptu topic with 2 paragraph elaboration and had to present their thoughts and answer certain questions mentioned to 2 panellists.
